With regret I post this. š¢ The Red Hill hotel was once our favourite weekend destination for a country pub meal and a few too many beers. Now under new management - the menu is sadly (seriously) underwhelming, meaning we unfortunately wont be back (for food) Itās a Gorgeous hotel however the menu / chef needs some serious work to ensure clientele return and the locals maintain loyalty. The Menu is small and defiantly over priced. Only 4 things on the menu, (and no old school country pub classics like a steak or a pie)
Our meals were Oily, small, lacking in flavour, and over priced. $32 for a chicken drumstick and rice is excessive. $28 for a ( mini ) parmigiana with no ātrimmingsā . The only trimmings were a few tomatoes soaked in oil - the meal had absolutely no flavour. If itās a short menu - and expensive - it needs to be done WELL.
We are MORE than Happy to pay for something good but this wasnāt even average.
What was good ? Service was great, beers cold, and the pub itself is beautiful but to spend time here - the meals really need huge improvement. š My tip - eat elsewhere and come for drinks! Wishing the new owners good luck - itās a great pub, the locals love it - Donāt...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDrove a long way to come to this pub for a special occasion. Service was friendly if a bit slow and entrees were great. Issues started when the mains came out, roast was one of our options, however there was no gravy given or even available as an option which I found bizarre especially as the meat really needed it due to it being quite dry and plain on its own. We then found 2 hairs in my wifeās main (not a roast) and that put us off having anything else. The toilets are also in need of a severe clean as the smell is quite confronting and in general theyāre very run down and dark (light didnāt work either). The staff were apologetic but a bit stand-offish and didnāt charge us for the dish with the hair. To summarise Iād bookmarked this place a long time ago looking forward to making the journey and trying it out. Suffice to say we left...

The outdoor area was rustic and pretty and a wonderful spot to soak up some sunshine. When the clouds came over, the outdoor fireplace provided some warmth. The staff were warm and welcoming and the meals were tasty without being amazing. They took a little while to come out, but our waiter was apologetic and it was all cool. Above all, Red Hill Hotel has great atmosphere. The pub has quaint country charm, combined with a quirky contemporary edge, located amongst gorgeous historical buildings. The crowd is chilled and family friendly. Give this place a go. Iām...
