I treated myself to a lunch at Templar Lodge because I had seen Facebook posts of Emma's dishes and their description and fell in love with the idea of eating her food. The restaurant is situated in a lovely part of alpine NE Victoria in Tawonga and is enveloped by a grapevine around the verandah which both protects from the heat and frames the surrounding countryside beautifully. Given that it was a Sunday the atmosphere was relaxed and unhurried and other guests seemed equally at ease as they enjoyed their lunches. Along with attentive and knowledgeable service I appreciated the use of local ingredients and the inventive twists of Emma's dishes immensely and left fully satisfied and prepared to visit again to try more of the menu. Would 10/10 recommend.

From the trout and goat’s cheese pate with its powerful flavours (one of the prettiest dishes we’ve ever been served), to the golden and soft haloumi with delicious middle eastern flavours, the slow cooked goat with fennel shavings, to the burrata, the food was hard to fault. An imaginative and unique menu experience making selection difficult while trying to avoid menu envy. Wine choices and cocktail offerings were also original and well curated. Lovely main dining room around a bar area. (Ask to sit in the front room, as larger groups are served in rear ante-rooms with less ambiance). It’s a long process to dine, but worth every minute. Left here feeling revitalised because of the excellent food experience.

Im sure theyre not designed as a child friendly venue, but we brought our 4 year old and was thrilled they had a kids option. A fine dining restaurant that made us feel welcome .... Five stars for helping us live the dream of a date night with wonderful food, while our child happily ate. Lovely service, wonderful food.

We are up in Mount Beauty for our wedding and had a terrible experience at another place on the other side of the valley on our wedding day.

Fortunately, we were recommended Templar Lodge and they were kind enough to fit us in last night.

From the moment we walked through the door we knew we were going to have a great experience. The staff are awesome, so friendly and welcoming. The cocktails were delicious, as was the food. Good portion sizes and I love that they use so much local produce.

Thank you so much, you really made our "redo" wedding dinner so special.

We'll...
