I recently stopped by this lovely cafe and as I was warmly greeted by the beautiful Tash, I said the happy song playing was one of my favourites. As we chatted, I mentioned I was going to visit a friend at end of life care in hospital. I will never forget Tash’s kindness on that day! Not only did she send me off with a most delicious coffee and a jumbo, jam packed decadent breakkie wrap that you just have to try, but she shared the happy playlist that was playing, and was just so genuinely kind and sweet with heartfelt good wishes for my difficult day ahead. I left with a full heart, and that playlist helped get me through a tough week. Country cafes are especially important, particularly for locals, not only for the food, but for the sense of community, as a meeting place where you’re known and welcomed by name. As a new person in this region, this special cafe is a place where I feel at home, where I don’t feel like a stranger and the new kid on the block. And this is all because of the people, most especially Tash, Iman and Cindy. And did I mention the food?? Firstly, they make on-site THE BEST sausage rolls I’ve EVER eaten! They get snapped up fast so if you see them…grab one! The coffee is hands down the best I’ve had in a looooong time, and they actually fill your mug to the top with hot coffee and frothy goodness…(and a yummy little cookie on the side!) mmmmmm. I keep coming back for the cheese and tomato toasties. Despite its simplicity, it seems very few can master the art of the perfect toastie - but here, when your toastie arrives beautifully presented on a wooden board, you just KNOW it’s gonna be the BEST! Hot all the way through, oozing with generous cheese and tomato sliced just right, and decadently topped with butter…OMG I want one NOW! One day I will start to make my way through the rest of the breakkie menu 😉. Thanks ladies for feeding my belly and my soul 🥰!! And folks, if you’re coming past, stop by this local treasure for a real experience of country...
Read moreI love, love, love this cafe! Please support them if you are able to visit during lockdown and throughout the broader pandemic - it'll be a total win-win.
Despite living nearby, it wasn't until the monotony of working from home motivated me to make the 30 minute round trip for my morning coffee that I finally made a visit. I wish I'd known sooner that the coffee here was so good, the food so tasty, and the service so warm and friendly. The food here is really excellent - I don't think I'll forget the first breaky roll I had the pleasure of enjoying!
The staff are all lovely and work hard to keep spirits high during these challenging times. Successfully, I might add. I always get such a lift out of visiting.
So if you live anywhere nearby, or find yourself passing through Tarwin Lower, definitely take a moment to visit the Bird & The Wolf. I know they'll appreciate it and I'm sure you won't be...
Read moreThe food was delicious and there were very generous amounts of each item. I ordered the Big Breakfast with Hash Browns and my partner ordered the Hash Stack. She initially wanted to add on avocado but silly me forget to add it to the order. When we received our food she asked the staff if we could add it to the side and they were kind enough to sort us out even when their breakfast menu had ended. The staff went above and beyond with their service, were super friendly and made us very welcomed, the food was absolutely delicious and will leave you with a full belly of deliciousness. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend to check them out. 👌🏾
I never leave reviews but I just had to write this up as I was digesting because I am on the verge of a food coma. They have some beautiful vibes, great ambience and nice...
