This place is amazing, So lucky to have something this good so far from Melbourne CBD Located in the tiny town on myrniong you will find this hidden gem. The service food and ingredients are better then anywhere I have been west of Melbourne. The change up the menu with the seasons and use fresh produce as well as dry age some of their own cuts of meat. I highly recommend the 36hr slow cooked parwan valley blade steak it is served with mash potatoes and peas and is a thick cut but will melt in your mouth. For dessert I like the Bombay Alaska but golden gay time is also nice. The staff are all super attentive and professional as well as friendly. In cooler months they have multiple wood fire places which make an awesome atmosphere and really sets the mood. They also have locals only specials on Thursdays but I suggest booking ahead as it is very popular. I cannot say anything bad about this place it is truly a must eat if you are travelling near myrniong or Bacchus marsh. *****Update went here tonight for my wife's birthday It was awesome. We ordered the locals only 2 course menu and added our favourite desserts and my wife ordered a mulled wine as it was a very cold winter night and we needed something to warm us up! Once again this place did not disappoint everything was on point and perfect from the service to the fresh ingredients used to make our delicious food. We enjoyed the mushroom soup and freshly baked bread which we also learnt today is made from locally grown wheat which is stone milled and best of all fresh no wonder it was so yummy like nothing else we have tasted before. Thanks again ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at The Plough @ Myrniong last night .The food was outstanding – the cottage pie was hearty, rich, and full of flavour, while the seafood linguine was perfectly balanced, fresh, and beautifully cooked. The desserts were fabulous – the perfect sweet finish to an already memorable meal. The service was warm, very attentive, and genuinely friendly, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The ambience is just perfect – rustic charm with a touch of elegance, cosy fireplaces, and a relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to linger. A true country gem that’s worth the drive – highly recommended!

This review is just for the restaurant and NOT the hotel. We really enjoyed our lunch here on a rainy day. Service was great and dessert was lovely, the foot presentation was like art on plate. My steak was pretty raw which I didn’t care for. other than that it was a good experience. Bathrooms were very clean. Place was tastefully decorated and the music playing was lovely. Parking area was gravel but plenty of spots available.

My uncle booked a dinner for just over 20 people - a memorial dinner if you like - in February 2013. His is a very switched on fellow indeed. We were able to get the downstairs room (down 3-4 stairs). 7 course dinner at $55/head not including wines (cheaper menus available of course). Although some said the courses were generally small (we had some gastronomes in our party) I defy anyone to have been hungry after the service. I have to say they were very accommodating with last minute vegan and chicken requests (due to the presence of some seafood in the menu that was selected). Nicole helped tremendously with wine and last minute preparations. The room had a wall TV with HDMI which allowed us to play photos from iPad all night (we took our own HDMI - IPAD cables).

Staff were excellent. Food was very good quality. A number of people noted the blade steak on the night was amongst the best they had had.

Having eaten at some of the best (sometime I would add "supposedly" to that description) restaurants in the world (e.g., Michelin star affairs in London [yes yes Gordon Ramsey's place], Dubai and Tokyo) what struck me about The Plough was that the last minute requests for chicken and vegan (not sure if the vegan was last minute) were delivered with such great presentation..... they didn't look like second rate meals at all. Personally, I loved the blade steak (but wouldn't have minded some vegan after seeing it). The mark of a great and flexible chef! Did not expect that AT ALL!

The blade steak justified the $55 entirely compared to some places where we have had trouble justifying either $20 meal or 300 pound meal with anything but the brand and reputation. It was GREAT value.

People were very happy with selection of wines and spirits. Great food and drink matched by great service (not pretentious just good).

This was fine dining in a rural location, which is a nice surprise. If you are in the area at any time - there probably isn't much around to choose from anyway at Myrniong but this place is a jewel. If you are not in the area - it is worth a visit on the way somewhere - more for the quality of food / drink / service than anything in the area itself..... I hope they keep it up.

The place would be great for 2 to 100 people I think. Although we didn't sit outside (there is a limited patio area) we sat there temporarily (as we arrived early) and it was very pleasant under the big trees looking out - I thought it was relatively scenic.

Note: Myrniong is not a large locale at all. It has an old church across from the bistro. One of the party had a wheelchair and general access and toilet access for him was not great (but it is an old pub / bistro - so I did not deduct any points but you should...

We have been coming to the Myrniong hotel since it was an original old style pub right through to its current form, The plough.||I can’t actually believe that I am writing this review!||Through the years we have celebrated birthdays, special occasions and everything in between. We have been to many Locals nights.||So on Saturday we went again to our special place to celebrate a few milestones in our life.||Was greeted by one friendly staff who guided us through the Covid check in process, no worries.||Then we were seated and unfortunately, that’s when it went downhill.||Our server was rude and snooty from the get go.||He treated us like primary school children and had a very condescending attitude, he made us feel very uncomfortable and awkward.||We looked over the same menu that has been in place for a long time.||It was not a busy night as Covid restrictions are still in place. |The service was incredibly slow and staff only visited our area if they had to.||Somewhere during the service we had a new server who was a terribly grumpy person.|I asked a simple question regarding the origin of the wine and she tuned her back to me and stormed off!! I would have preferred the snooty woke guy.||My steak came out and it was fatty and the pepper sauce was bland brown water, I honestly couldn’t believe it!! By this stage I was too scared to approach the wait staff as she was unapproachable.||The Bok choy was nice and that’s what the one star is for.||I have never felt so uncomfortable and unwelcome in all the years I’ve ever dined.||Do not go to this place if you wish to celebrate, the service staff will ensure that you will have none of that.||I will tell ten people about my horrible experience and so will the other diners and discourage anyone from going.||They ruined our evening, with their bad atmosphere and mediocrity.||After all these years? I’m...
