A really quirky pub that has great inside and outside dining appeal, and one to head to in winter with its huuuuge open fireplace. Outside there are a couple of dining areas, one with an old Melbourne tram.. a fountain and kids play area. This is definitely one for the whole family. The menu is great. A varied and also basic fare that will satisfy most. The servings are huge, and filling. If there is a crit, its that it took an hour and 10 minutes for a basic order for two to be served - and the place was not busy. Thats why I did not give it five stars. The bar and wait staff were friendly and efficient, and the music pleasurable and in the background. I will definitely be coming back. Where.. 15km east of Ballarat on the M8. Parking.. large off road parking area. Bookings.. advisable. Accom... available, but book ahead.

A honest country pub serving a typical pub menu at reasonable prices. We attended for an early tea and mostly empty in the main dining but filled up as the evening progressed. The menu is honest providing a good selection and the prices fall within the reasonable range for pub menu. Staff were friendly and engaging. The ordered food was served timely and correctly. The dessert menu was nice and finished our meal well. The big big surprise is the rear external gardens of the hotel. Lots of space and in the better weather great ambience to sit in. My photos show a good view if the different areas of the rear garden. Over all an enjoyable pub serving true pub grub at reasonable prices. Worth a visit and just a few seconds off the Western Hwy.

Went here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. The service I got was a little rude but I put that down to them being busy.... That was the only complaint. Meal was amazing the atmosphere was amazing the live music was awesome and not to overpowering. I would definitely come back here again. I can highly recommend the roast. The portion size was Hugh so make sure you bring your appetite.

Very interesting quirky pub. Strange choice of interior design, bar and bistro are nice, so many tables inside and out, great for family functions or gatherings. The outside area has an old Melbourne tram which I found very cool to see in a pub.

Walked in and was greeted by a waitress who took my table, then proceeded to sit down and continue drinking her glass of red wine, a bit strange but sure, it's a Friday night, ordered food at the bar, bartender seemed quite grumpy and was very forward with conversation "what do you want" before I even asked to order food. No friendly banter just straight to the point.

Food was outstanding, $36 for a porterhouse cooked to perfection and it came to my table in about 10 minutes on a busy Friday night, chips and salad also good, with a generous portion of each topped with creamy garlic butter, a true pub classic, perfection. The addition of a proper steak knife was also a nice touch. Some pubs you end up eating your steak with a butter knife.

My only gripe was the price of alcohol, I think it was $18 for a pint of Melbourne Bitter and $10 for a schooner of the same, far more than any pub in town.

All in all, I will be coming back in the future, and would recommend stopping in, it's just off the freeway and close enough to Ballarat and surrounds, if you and the family are looking for a nice country-esk pub with a quirky modern touch and great food, then...

Hmm, so many good reviews. It must have all gone wrong tonight. This is my first ever time giving a 1 out of 5. If I could give less I would. Firstly, new to the establishment there wasn’t sufficient signage to tell you where to enter the building. Secondly, no sign telling you to wait or sit. Thirdly rather abrupt staff when asking how things work. Fourth, waited at least an hour for our meals. When the meals finally came they seemed to be confused why I asked for cutlery. We ordered a main of Arancini which was luke-warm and quite unimaginative. I ordered the only main (that wasn’t pizza) that was Vegetarian and it was clear it was a Latina pasta sauce or similar, it was also cold. My friend ordered the pot pie and the pastry was uncooked. When the owner came to collect the plates he was asking us if we shared the pie?? I simply said “I ate some of the potatoes” and he just stood there looking at us and making us feel awkward. Not one person that came to clear our table asked how our meals were, they obviously already knew. I have never seen so many people looking so sad as disappointed on other tables as they waited for their meals. As the only establishment in town I really feel sorry for locals. They deserve better. A lovely building, the setting is very nice, tonight that’s all this place had going for it. The young staff were friendly and seemed under the pump....

Such a beautiful pub. I was fortunate enough to have attended a 21st Birthday in their private room. I was blown away with how beautifully this place is set up. Wood fire heaters in both private and public areas and outside gas heaters are there if you require them. The owner and staff were lovely and very friendly. Best of all they offer a full vegan seasonal flavorsome menu, winning! My menu was absolutely fantastic, selected from the catering menu, the veggie fried dumplings were aaaamazing, big and full of vegetables, same as their falafel and mushroom skewers, (no pic’s, l enjoyed them so much) vegan veggie pizza delicious. Then for desert 2 types of rum balls, caramel and dark chocolate with nuts. I usually miss out, but not here. They offer more than a fruit salad. They have a outside area also for hire which they’ve had weddings, engagements as well as birthday parties. I attend here in winter, however definitely coming back in spring/summer to enjoy dinning in their outside area. I’m sure it will be busy with families and locals, but l expect nothing less. Expect it to be noisy with families and patrons, after all it’s a Pub/Resturant. Definitely do yourself a favor and visit this great pub for yourself. Soon as you turn left off the freeway, it’s in full view on your right. Nothing short of a great country pub. You won’t be disappointed, we certainly...
