Went on New Years day. We got there around 7 and it was fairly busy. We were told 45 mins wait and we agreed and understood the wait, as it was so packed, can't blame a busy place for being long wait! Once it approached 1 hour and 15 mins and the place had nearly halved the occupants as when we arrived, is when we started to get confused that we hadn't seen any plates delivered, not even just our but anyone! But on a busy public holiday, we could understand maybe everyone is a little frazzled and overwhelmed.
The table next to us were waiting even longer and they got their meals in-between ours coming out.
By the time the food did come out which for our last plate on the table, 1 hour and 35 mins, the other half of our party had already finished theirs. So, it wasnt even brought out all together. No waiters telling us sorry for the wait, or anything.
If the food was good, we'd have maybe been more forgiving but it wasn't. The parmas were literally cut in half. the chicken burger was half a snitzle, which wasn't what we expected at all. So, to wait nearly an hour and a half to get served half the meal, wasn't the best experience. To make it worse, they charged 15% extra as its a public holiday. Now, charging more on a public holiday, isn't anything new, regardless if you agree or not. We were just left a little "meh" by the experience.
Reading the other recent reviews, the pub was just reopened. Which is great, sometimes it takes teething. But when every comment is negative. Something isnt right. They seem to use this as excuse for the lack in food quality and wait time. If you're not able to meet the demand of the number of occupants, lower the number you let in, considering you only let people seat with bookings. Everyone makes mistakes, but don't blame the customer for not enjoying their meal, take the feedback and try to improve.
As I said, NYD isn't an easy day to serve on, but if you're not ready for the challenge, don't open. Don't blame the customers who are paying, when they get upset for waiting over an hour and a half.
I wouldn't recommend nor would I come back, but that's just one man's (plus 5...
Read moreWe booked a group of 20 adults for dinner at 7.30, arrived early to check out the new renovations which looked great well done. Take your card as they currently are not accepting cash payments. Our 3 tables were outside in the beer garden where there is plenty of space under the trees where some people were playing games like quoits etc. The tables were spaced well apart. Would be great to hear some music out there if there is no live music. We ordered potato wedges for a snack which arrived quickly and were so delicious and a huge serving! We ate half before I remembered to take a pic but I agree with the others about the main menu chicken items lacking quality at the moment and timing of meal delivery to the table was weird with meals being delivered to us then to other tables randomly while our table was waiting on the same meals. I did like the small menu which hopefully helps to improve the quality as they find their new groove. Both salads + haloumi ordered were reviewed as delicious. We thought the young staff were great they were working hard as they learn the ropes and as they gain experience they should provide wonderful local energy to the revamped Wandi Pub. Our group was last to leave and enjoyed playing a few games at the pool table and watching a cricket game on the large TV. Will hopefully reach 5 star feeling again soon as it's a beautiful part...
Read moreReally let down on my most recent visit. My group of friends and i have visited and eaten at the pub prior to it's renovations. The food was really great, there were some real restaurant quality dishes. When i saw thew new menu post renovation i saw it was what you would call, "standard pub fare", but i was fine with that as i was banking on the quality coming through based on previous experience. I was sadly wrong to think that way. This food was probably some of the worst pub food i've had in a long while. Everything everyone ordered was either wrong or sub par.
Firstly- you cant call buffalo wings, buffalo wings if they dont have the buffalo hot sauce on them. Just serving big wings does not count as buffalo wings.
I think also the chef needs to change the oil in the fryer especially if they are frying the fish and the chicken in the same one. This is because the fried chicken burger (which was fried to a crisp) tasted like fish too.
If you're going to do meals where everything is just basically fried, you need to make sure you know how to fry things properly.
The downgrade from what the kitchen used to be to now is quite astounding. Unfortunately on my next return to Bright and It's surrounds i will not be stopping...
