Strange encounter today (9:30am Tuesday 23rd August 2022)
I asked if they had steak sandwiches Guy (Aussie appearance) replied no and was pushing me towards a steak pie and said that I would like the pie I mentioned I’m happy to have a look and decide myself While I was trying to view the menu and display cabinet the other guy (Asian appearance) kept asking do you want this or that rattling off food options. I had to repeat I’m just deciding and I even told the customer behind me to jump in front of me while I decide Instead I was pushed towards a pie again (Aussie guy) and asked if I’m Victorian. I replied yes and he had a laugh He then followed up by saying something along the line “see how I treat others” referring to the other customer behind me to prove some point 🙄
I decided to purchase the pie because I had high expectations by this stage as he was trying to convince me. I chose to eat it outside in the cold instead of inside to try and process what just happened. The way I was treated by the Aussie bloke is how me and my mates stir up each other, but to do it to a customer that you don’t know and try embarrass in front of others isn’t warranted
The Verdict Asian guy was pushy but doing his job to sell and I get that Aussie guy obviously has issues with Victorians or just unhappy with his life, a smile and a positive attitude goes a long way, try it next time 😉 As for the pie 😂 it was barely warm with two tiny pieces of beef and mushrooms each if that, and the rest was runny.
I decided to support the next NSW business further up with sweets and drinks for the long drive I had today. I’m always trying to support small businesses instead of franchises and this special establishment hasn’t deterred me yet 😉
Checked the website and realised the Aussie looking bloke appears to be...
Read moreI met a prize dim wit there today. A message on A-frame on entering bakery says among other things "free advice". After placing my order for a pie & coffee, I asked the young server if she knew where the migrant camp used to be. She answered with "I wouldn't have a clue". Neither did two of her colleages. By chance, up the road at the servo, I asked the same question and was lucky to find a guy who could direct me. First though, he suggested, go across the road to the rest stop where there is lots of info not only about the camp but also the air force base which occupied that land during WWII. The bakery is about 100 meters from the rest stop. My advice to the Quinty bakery owners is to ensure your staff read that info and get to know the colourful history of your...
Read moreI did a drive from Geelong up to Coffs Harbor/Woolgoolga on holidays, did a day trip up through the Casino/Nimbin area. Stopped ever now and then to stretch the legs when i'd see a bakery, so i tried quite a few.
Easily, EASILY the best pies i had on the whole trip, up and back, was at the Quinty Bakehouse. The Traditional Meat Pie and Mushroom Pie were just incredible. The pastry was crispy on top without being a mess that ends up on your shirt and soft on the bottom, not hardened like it'd been sitting. The filling a really good mix of the traditional, sloppier, gravy/meat mix and chunks of meat. I've never ever had a better Mushroom Pie either. whole and halve mushrooms and the richest sauce.
5/5. Haven't had a...
