Popped into 3 wineries for a special day out after a tough couple of months. Out tasting on this particular day, the other 2 wineries we visited we happily walked away with a handful of bottles from each.
As a background, we arenât wine snobs but we have travelled the world and done wine tasting many times in some of the best wine regions of Australia and the world. We are also familiar with the Swan Valley and very friendly and approachable.
Called into Ambrook as it was close to where we were staying. Should have read the multiple poor reviews prior because we sadly had the same experience as mentioned many times by other patrons. Almost empty car park we thought we would get lovely personalised service, boy were we wrong!! Scruffy guy greeted us quite unprofessionally, served us, I can only assume he was the owner as he wouldnât have a job otherwise with his extremely negative and unprofessional attitude. I knew it wasnât going to be a great experience when he poured the wine, told us nothing about the wines and was watching the footy at the same time. (The back story about local wine is what helps sell $25+ bottles of wine rather than paying less at uncle Dans) Asked what he could tell us about the roĹe and he rudely said to me âah itâs red!â Tried to make chit chat and he criticised the suburb we lived in, the sports we were into and more. We were left shocked honestly, couldnât wait to get out if there. What a let down as the wines were actually decent! We bought one bottle only as refused to buy anymore and support such bad customer service, would have happily bought more given proper service. Other people came in and were obviously regulars because they had a bit of a warmer welcome than us, fellow Italians I can only assume. (FYI, I am also part Italian)
Owner mentioned something about loosing the winery, well drop the attitude and treat your paying customers better and we would probably buy a case every time we were in the area, now we will be warning people away. You obviously donât need the sales. Maybe the owner should do a local tasting or 2. Obviously got no idea. Lifeâs too short for that kind of totally unjustified negativity, go on a holiday or hand over the rains if you are that unhappy in life!
If you are a fellow wine lover and reading this review, Do yourself a favour and visit Pinelli wines instead just up the road. Visited 2 days in a row. Fantastic friendly service and stunning great quality wines, we bought a case to take home and will revisit each time we are...

We came in today 2:50pm the 4th March 2023 we where served by a lovely lady with blond hair that could not do more to serve us however the owner/Wine maker was the rudest person i have ever met. He kept putting the female staff member down for not putting the cork back in the bottle straight away he then disappeared out the back. Meanwhile we carried on tasting ( I might add that is cost $5 for a tasting however if you buy food or a bottle they wave it it was our intention to buy a bottle ) we asked to sample the Moscato the next thing we hear the owner degrade the female staff member that was serving us for not putting the cork straight back on the bottle. we politely asked if we could buy a bottle and the staff member proceeded to find a bottle however the owner once again came and in a toned voice said to the staff member that she wonât find it as there is not any for sale and they sold out the staff member then proceeded to tell the owner that she opened one for a tasting in Wich the owner flipped his lid in front of us for opening the bottle that supposedly was the last one that he was saving for some reason. I could not believe my eyes when he produced a second open bottle and proceeded to top up the newly opened bottle. I HOPE YOU THE OWNER READS THIS PART.
not only as a customer would I have offered to buy the said opened bottle as it was opened for me to taste it was only when you snatched it from your staff member and where so rude about her opening it for us that in my head I decided not to offer to purchase the bottle it was then I decided to walk out and I paid my $5 for the tasting wich judging by your service was ludicrous. If you had been better at not loosing your temper at staff in front of customers and lost the rude attitude we would have possibly Brought a couple of bottles from you however because of your rudeness towards your staff you have not only missed a sale but we will never come back ever so you have also lost a customer. you may say oh well thatâs only one customer however this is one customer that will tell others to avoid your winery and will continue to post reviews once this one is...
Read moreVery average wine. We should have known not to go there because there was not one living soul there. The total sleazebag working couldnât look us in the face but he had no problem looking at my chest. My Mum was attempting to chat away and he could not care less, and kept speaking over her. Typical man! He insulted my profession (primary school teaching) and said âoh why do you need to study to change nappies? Thatâs not a real job, itâs just babysittingâ and I just looked away in disgust. No one who insults my profession will get my money! He attempted to apologise, âI didnât mean to upset youâ. But by that point it was far too late and he had offended me enough. At least I have people skills and work in a very rewarding and important field. Will never return and warn my friends to...
