Friday 4.2.2022 Appalling service and treatment of clientele…

I booked a table on Friday 28.1.2022 for Friday 4.2.2022 for 7 people. I requested a table for 4:30 on the balcony watching over the playground. This was booked in person at the restaurant, at the time of booking the guy said, ‘I may be able to sell the table after us.’

When I arrived with my son for dinner to catch up with friends, I was told we only had the table for 2 hours as they booked the table for 6:30. I said to the staff member, that’s not fair, why do we only have 2 hours? She said that it’s a Friday night and the table has been booked.

She said she could move us inside, I said no because my son wont be able to see me inside and I need to be able to see him on the playground.

Her response was ‘well, what do you want me to do? Do you want me to call the other booking and tell them their table isn’t available?’. I responded with I don’t know that’s not my issue. She continued to challenge and say that the table had a booking prior to mine. I responded with ‘How would I know that, why didn’t the guy say that? Why wasn’t I told it was only for 2 hours?’

She argued to say that the guy the did the booking would have told me which he didn’t. She asked on multiple occasions if I want her to call the second booking to tell them the table wasn’t available. My friend spoke up and said she was being completely unprofessional and that it was not up to be to make these decisions. I also challenged and asked why the second booking couldn’t go inside, she said it was because they had requested that table.

I asked to speak to a manager, she went inside, spoke to someone and came back out to say ‘between my manager and I we have discussed and decided that if you don’t take the table we are offering in side, at 6:30 you will be asked to leave.’

My friend and I were mortified! We said they do not deserve our patronage. We walked out and went to the King Road Brewery, between us we spent just over $200 and we were not limited to a 2 hour window.

Key points that I should not have had to even mention:

• We were returning clients as we have been to this restaurant many times • We have never been told of a 2-hour limit for dinner, we have spent nearly 3 hours there • My son is on the spectrum and needs to be able to see me and us see him, • This behaviour was also displayed in front of the 4 children. The children could not understand why we could not stay at our table • My son struggled and ended up underneath my car, it took my friends and I around 5 minutes to get him out.

The attitude of the staff member was argumentative and unprofessional. The fact the manager never bothered to come out and speak to us, again, unprofessional and poor customer service.

They have just lost the business of 3 families and I will no longer be purchasing...

We came here for lunch twice with our kids and the food was good and the kids had a great time in the playground on both occasions.

We decided to bring my parents here for my mums birthday dinner on Tuesday 22nd Feb as we had good previous experiences here.

This time was a different story. All of our meals (7) were absolutely terrible to the point we didn't even eat them. Im not sure who was in the kitchen this night but it was beyond bad.

The food had zero seasoning in anything and it was obvious that whoever made these meals was not a good chef.

My wife got the beef salad and it was literally the worst salad we've ever tasted and I've replaced my chips for a garden salad at McDonalds before LOL.

They have the look all sorted out but the place where most of these new businesses go wrong is that they are more concerned with the image than the food.

I had the fish of the day which was supposed to be Tempura Snapper and it was a wet soggy mess which my local fish and chip shop would throw in the bin. Hardly tempura. My mum had this as well and she pretended it was nice because she is a good person but once we all realised how terrible all of the food was, she opened up and said it was awful too.

Another tip - Onion rings are supposed be just that - rings. What we got was WHOLE slices of onions that were still raw. That aint onion rings folks... Inedible.

The prawn and chorizo was great the first time we came there and it was really nice and spicy. This time it was bland with no salt and no hot chilli.

Employ people who want to be there and will greet customers accordingly and hire kitchen staff that know how to make basic foods. Not some emotionless teenager that just grunts at you with dead eyes when you go to the bar to order a drink. Eating out is not cheap and if you want to leave a lasting impression on people, make sure the food is good and the service is on point. Otherwise, we may as well all just eat at home.

Sorry guys, we had high hopes for this place as our kids love it but we wont be...

Great restaurant with ample parking and a nice varied menu. Not to mention access to the bar right there in the seating area.

The dining area has a nice clean modern timber and metal vibe which promotes the feeling of space, producing a nice and relaxing atmosphere. The large glass windows with views of the green and the children's play area also help to promote this. I can picture myself coming past on a warm afternoon and sitting outside, watching the sunset and having a lazy snack and drink.

I came for lunch and the soft shell crab tacos and meaty pizza I ordered were done well. Given the fittings and furnishings of the dining area, my mind automatically thinks this was a place with good food, priced a little higher than what you would consider a local establishment, and would have little sitting on the plate. I was glad to see other meals arriving at the tables around me, and my meals, proved that the offering is worth the price. The food was fresh and tasty. The soft shell crab with a light batter still warm from the oil, the accompanying sliced chillies were vibrant, and the amount of actual meat on the pizza with sauce that you can taste, all washed down with a dark ale chef's kiss. I would have stayed longer to sit, converse, and have another drink, yet there was a time limit on the reservation.

Overall, this was a great introduction to the restaurant and its offerings. I am glad I came for lunch and will keep this in mind when in the area to swing by for a relaxed dining session.

P.S. The meaty pizza didn't come with chillies. I took them from the tacos and...

What a terrific destination and addition to dining options in the Port Kennedy/Rockingham area. Staff were inviting and helpful - sharing their enthusiasm for the Restuarant. Ordered the special - and the salmon was cooked to perfection - crusty skin and evenly cooked through…. Sadly the Chorizo was a little dominate, however not too badly - would have preferred more kale/tomato for a better balanced meal. The menu item (under Shared Bite) came as a bit of surprise - whilst ‘Pide’ is mentioned (‘pide’ in English is a traditional Turkish Flat Bread) - this may not be known by all that many visitors and it really dominated the dish…. Tasty, but a little dry it may not suit if you feel you are going to get more of other ingredients listed. Again the Chorizo dominated. The ambience could be a little noisy (there were only a few visiting at our time of early dining) and I had to ask if the piped music be turned down for outside dining, so we could have a comfortable conversation. Not sure why they need piped music and the ambient sounds (seagulls, ocean, golf links etc) make up the atmosphere more appropriately. Additionally with a polished cement floor, the inside noise could be challenging if a noisy group visited. HUGE potential - a really professionally presented restuarant with great outlooks and children facilities. One of more up-market destinations in the area, this could be visit of choice.

I’m giving a shout out to Birdie Restaurant, in Port Kennedy . What a fabulous venue, amazing food and outstanding service! I was on the hunt for a venue that was a decent distance from us , could cater for our large family , that had disability access and a playground for the kids to play. Out of 3 potential venues, Kristie from Birdie was the one that responded to my email with open arms ( 18th and 21st birthdays are not often welcome at many places apparently) . Even though I had not heard of Birdie before, they were a 13 minute drive from our place. Kristie was amazing, so very helpful and accomodating . Especially for someone like me who is not an organiser. She just made it all so very easy for me . The venue has plenty of room and was wheelchair and walking - aid friendly. There is a massive playground to keep the kids entertained . If you’re having an event, or just need a nice place to go to with delicious food I highly recommend you check this place out .
