Not quite 5 star yet, but easily 41/2! We dined here for my mother in law’s birthday lunch whilst staying in Dunsborough for a wedding. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals and custom brews. Nice sized, tasty cheese burger with real sliced tasty cheese and thick local beef patty. Delicious Raging Bull pie and chips. Very satisfying Spanish mackerel and chips. And unexpectedly a great platter option on the kids menu including crackers, cheese, bread roll and beautiful fruit. Not the typical nuggets and chips or other deep fried options kids get. The kids didn’t even ask for our chips! Definitely the best kids menu I’ve seen. We were also treated to great cheerful staff, a cosy atmosphere... and the men’s room has a fine view over the property’s lawns to their lake/dam. Was a bit cloudy and windy on our visit, but the staff promptly provided portable heating near our table. Overall a very friendly, comfortable and enjoyable dining experience in WA’s fantastic Margaret River Wine Region. Well done guys 👍

Oldest brewery in Margaret River in the hands of new management from the news (local people) and reviews. Came in for lunch and some beers, found out only 2 Bootleg beers (IPA and a dark beer) are on tap and the rest from Rocky Ridge and Megsy ginger beer. Pretty low variety for a brewery but respectable as the staff/owner mentioned they are brewing new batches in the coming months. The 2 beers on offer are great. The 7% raving bull schonner hit the tastebuds pretty good! Steak sanga and the classic burger was delicious, meaty and saucy. Well cooked and with the weekly specials it's sure to charm the patrons. Live music by Louise serenaded the crowds with her charmful voice. Will be back to try other beers when they are available!

Bootleg has come up against hot competition in the last 10 years. Initially we were very turned off by the reviews. After being knocked back for a table at a newer establishment at 1pm on a Tuesday we found our way to Bootleg. Really glad we went, it’s got a bit of a way to restore the former glory but it’s obvious that’s in the plans. I really think it will. Although very quiet, the food was EXCELLENT. Low key but really great attentive service. It’s a beautiful property and heartening to see a groundskeeper onsite and all the staff invested. Highly recommend going to Bootleg this summer, currently it’s a really great experience.

My partner and I popped on through after realising all other brewery's/distilleries and pubs were either fully booked or were closed until dinner (1700hrs). Atmosphere was amazing, music was great, the choices of seating were extensive. There were around 20 people including children here when we arrived. It was great to see the children enjoying the playground and mesmerised by the lovely lake/river. I had the bootleg burger and my partner had the seafood platter. My burger was moist, juicy and perfect temperature, the chips were crispy with the perfect amount of salt. My partner commented that the fish was crispy batter, with flaky, juicy fish. We did not feel rushed by the staff, we were able to finish our meals and sit for another 20 minutes after to just enjoy ourselves and take in the amazing view. It's hard to find such a nice, chilled pub for meals where we live in Perth, so this was a lovely change of scenery on our short holiday. Staff were kind and very welcoming. Thankyou for an amazing meal, keep up the great...

We have never abandoned a meal at a restaurant until today. The first red flag was how run down this place is, that should have been all we needed to know. The kids pizzas is some awful store bought thing covered in an unidentifiable meat-type product. I thought everyone knows a kids pizzas is lots of tomato sauce and cheese, and nothing triggering to an unreasonable toddler. The burger is a horror show. Meat patties appear to be from Coles, the bun squashed by a toaster but curiously not toasted, and the bacon was basically raw. The steak in the steak sandwich was a grey mess that looked like it had been stewing for hours The Rose was served warm, despite the bar staff literally having served it from the fridge. Despite the awful food, surely it’s not possible to screw up serving a glass of wine, but there you go.

$90 later we abandoned the mission after a few bites and went to Aravina for a pizza, where we should have gone in the first place.

Only proving 1 star as it’s not possible...
