So, so very disappointed, took my daughter there for her birthday along with her partner. We were brought out an extra serving we didn't order and when I told them we hadn't ordered it, they tried to get me to have it anyway. I told them we wouldn't end up eating it and was given a weird look by the person who served us while I was asked by another "So what you want a refund?" I said I did since I hadn't ordered it. Both staff members left without an apology and a rude attitude. Neither brought me my refund. Instead both spent the next 30 minutes cleaning the equipment, no other customers came in that time. After 30 minutes I went and asked for my refund. The response was flippant and 2 other staff...

An absolutely lovely place to visit and dine in. The ambience is so charmingly old world, with historic buildings and exhibits to explore, and the food is definitely worth the trip. The seafood basket was amazing, everything so fresh, with the fries crisp to the very last one. The scones truly are the best I have ever had, anywhere in the world and I have tried many, in many countries, including England and Scotland. The owners are warm and incredibly welcoming. They even gave us a complimentary sampling of a new ice cream flavour they were testing out, that was not on the menu. If you have not been here yet, it should definitely be...

So we were THOSE customers today... We (myself and my 6 yr old son) rode our bikes to the Cafe today, we get there at 2.30pm, with no idea as to what the kitchen hours were, the website says 9-3 opening hours. However, having worked in hospitality, I kinda figured it would close at 2 for food - we rock up, prepared to order simply cakes, and the kitchen staff offer us lunch! How beautiful is that! We go for chips and a toastie (easy to make, easy to clean) and not only is thus not a problem, but after I discover a flat on my bike, the owner offers to drop us at home! What a gent. What an...

The village as it was! Plenty of space between these buildings. You get a real sense of what it must have been like. My primary school back in England still had bench desks and inkwells back in the 1960’s. Go into the properties that are open and read the information cards very informative. The churches are still in use and are fine examples. At the police post and Gaol you get the sense of how oppressive it must have been for alleged wrong doers. The courthouse is there as well

Worth stopping to explore this peaceful place. Of the 11 buildings, 1 was closed for repairs when we visited in early Nov. Some interesting exhibits. There's an entry fee to support its upkeep. We arrived a little later than 2:30 and as seems the norm these days the cafe was already closing up for 3pm so we felt we couldn't order any food etc so I can't comment on the cafe fare. However, we could stay exploring the grounds to 4pm when the grounds keeper came to lock up.

Welcoming when entering the main building and the Cafe/management staff were fantastic. The Illegal Tender Rum Co have a shop/stand there also, but we were not offered any samples even though we showed some interest in the product, so we did no purchase anything, others were luckier. It is interesting to see the history, the buildings are well restored and have good documentation to tell the stories. Cafes food was simple and priced well.
