There are BBQ facilities. Pack a picnic and save yourself the expensive disappointment. We booked ahead to ensure a table for Father’s Day breakfast at 10am. Ended up in a traffic cue for 20 mi utes so my son got our and went to make sure we did t lose our table. They ordered coffee and when we arrived we also ordered coffee and breakfast. The lady came out with our coffees and put one in front of a person that clearly already had a coffee and her thumbs were all over the saucer. (Gross) Easy fix they were busy so we just juggled them around so everyone had one. Then the wait started….. it literally took just over an hour for our breakfasts to arrive and when they did, they were 2 at a time. We instructed the kids to go ahead and eat so theirs didn’t get any colder than they already were. When ours arrived more than 5 minutes after that (also cold) there was a Hash brown sitting on top that looked like they had found it on the floor under the stove! I obviously didn’t eat it but did show the girl at the till when we were paying for our meals. She made a joke about the chef, but really couldnt have cared less. No offer to remove the price of the hash brown from the bill or even a proper apology. Unacceptable for 120 dollar breakfast. It’s such a shame because the weather was perfect, the grounds of Araluen are beautiful.

Chalet Healy Cafe with Chef Pablo Henke and crew is a revival I have been waiting for. I certainly feel this is a bonus for the Araluen Botanic Park. Their support in wavering park entry fees when booked at Chalet Healy Cafe means all visitors to our wonderfully kept Botanic park will be able to enjoy the park also. We started our 1st booking with a special occasion, our daughters 40th Birthday, just a small family affair. We chose the 3 course Christmas menu currently on offer, the other menu choices suited our dietary requirements and our Miss 3 enjoyed her children's menu. A lovely surprise and ver thoughtful was the Birthday candle, song and wishes. Not last or in the least, the food was fantastic and the service was met with the best smiles from Pablo Henke's crew. Lovely to meet Pablo and thank him for making the day lovely with the family. Excellence in food, quality, service and ambience, what more could you ask for? Definitely recommend and check their social pages for what's on. I'm a little biased as Chalet Healy Cafe is a little bit of heaven on earth and it's in my backyard.

Some reviews, photos and menus shown here are 3 years old. There’s been a makeover: New chef, new management, new staff, new attitude, amazing new menu and a warm welcome … even new chairs! I host at The Chalet in Araluen Park. We strive to provide the best welcome and atmosphere for all our customers. Pablo’s menu is sublime. I’d struggle to list all the nice things folk say on the way out, after enjoying our hospitality. But we’re learning so any comments or compliments are taken seriously, especially if made during your visit. (There’s a pic in the images in this page that’s old. We don’t do scones - or sausages!) Our chef Pablo is a culinary artist. He combines local produce and native greenery to create a surprising and satisfying taste sensation : melt-in-the-mouth lamb shoulder with creamed corn and native thyme, soft and crispy barramundi with orange and myrtle, perfectly battered whiting with getaldton wax purée… to describe a few. I look forward to seeing you at The Chalet.

Really disappointed as the gardens are so beautiful and it seemed like a nice place to take a break and eat.

I used the QR code to view the menu, which I had no problem doing, when I noticed there was no ingredients listed in the gnocchi at all, not even a description of what I’m ordering. I’m a vegetarian so I wanted to know what was in the gnocchi so I could order it, I went to walk in to speak to the staff when I ran into a waitress who asked if I needed help, I said yes and said I needed to ask what was in the gnocchi, she ushered me back to my table and showed me how to use the QR code to order, I reiterated that I just wanted to know what was in the gnocchi and again she showed me how to order it (sounding a bit frustrated with me now), I tried to explain that I don’t need help with ordering I just wanted to know what was in the food I’m going to buy. She didn’t understand and showed me the gnocchi on the menu which I could already see, my partner then stepped in and asked if it was vegetarian, the lady said yes but i dont know if she understood again so I just ended up getting some pastries and cold drinks instead (which we waited about 20 minutes for some pastries cold out of the fridge). Very frustrating, uncomfortable and disappointing as I feel it’s only fair that I know what I’m purchasing before I buy it. After this experience I didn’t even want to stay and eat as I felt so uncomfortable by the waitress. Don’t recommend. It was a very pretty place to eat but very...

Staff (two older ladies in particular) so RUDE. We were told to walk around and come back later, which we did. Two hours later, we came back but were told how they are busy and we have no chance of getting a table. Just as she said that, people at the table overheard and said - we are leaving! The lady was not happy at all. After significant wait, we were finally told that we have to order at the counter. When I came to the counter, the older lady behind the register looked at me and just turned around and went into the kitchen, saying I will be back. When she eventually reappeared, I started placing my order, she couldn't remember what I said and had to repeat, SLOWLY. The strawberry milk shake that I ordered was nothing but a diluted milk with Nesquick strawberry flavor. When I complained that it is not a milkshake, the young girls started attacking me saying that it is, that it has ice cream and syrup. Well, it didn't. As we were getting out, I witnessed how one of the two older serving women being so abusive towards one of the young mums with children for giving them some food not being bought at cafe. The mum said that they have ordered food, but while waiting, children are hungry. She was forced to stop feeding them and move food away. SO BAD EXPERIENCE, I DON'T KNOW HOW THEY MANAGE TO GET AWAY WITH THIS WITH SO MANY BAD REPORTS BELOW. I WILL KEEP WRITING UNTIL SOMEONE DOES SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. WE DESERVE...

After an early morning walk around the beautiful Areluen gardens we went to Chalet Healy for lunch. Arrived at around 11.45am to avoid the rush but too late. We were about 4th in the queue. When we finally got to the door the waiter advised us we could be seated if we were okay to share a table so we said yes.

The couple we sat with were very nice and the conversation was pleasant. Then the menu arrived. We were told that the chef was a Michelin Chef and excellent. The waiter was spruiking the Barramundi for the day which I ordered and the price was $38 and my wife's shoulder of lamb $34. Infact the whole menu was quiet highly priced, but I imagine the Chef salary would be quite high. The food finally arrived and as the waitress put it onto the table my exclamation was, 'is this it!' Yes of course she replied obviously not getting the sarcasm of the comment. The plate would not have been more than 8-10 inches or 250mm wide with a piece of fish that looked about the size of a Weetbix with a few bits of rocket salad on top and sitting on an orange potatoe type base with my wife's much the same. The portion was not even entree size and at $72 we felt a bit of a take on. Our share table people had much the same issue. No doubt the management will give some reasoning for this pathetic meal but our advice would be save your money or go to the nice cafe in...
