I booked a table for 10 for 7.30, for my birthday dinner. We ordered drinks first. When we ordered our meals, we waited almost an hour for the food to come out. I wanted the chilli mussels I’d seen on their menu on the website, but didn’t figure on the menu being changed when I got there, so I felt rushed into a choice I wasn’t entirely happy with. I chose the beef and beer pie which came with chips and salad. The pie was a dish with admittedly chunky meat, ( which was the best part of the whole meal), but the crust was just a a square of flaky pasty popped on the top and was burnt. It came with chips which were horrible. Most of my guests had steak or various burgers, which they seemed to like, but clearly wasn’t the best burger they’d ever eaten. My young grandson s had a nuggets and chips kids meal each, which were the last meals out of the kitchen and really should’ve been the first , given that they were only kids meals. This was followed by a free ice cream, which was just a tiny ice cream cup with a lid. I wouldve preferred to have bought them a better dessert, as I felt it was a bit poor as desserts go. One of my guests ordered a share meal, because it was Yorkshire pudding with beef and gravy. This too, was last out of the kitchen, and given there was only three of them, should’ve been one of the first out of the kitchen, too. Also, it was stone cold in parts and warm in others, which leads to the conclusion that they were frozen and a hot filling popped onto them. This particular guest has cancer and is immune compromised, so has to be careful about infection. So, being given a half cooked meal which could possibly have caused food poisoning was unacceptable, and coupled with this guest having to wait for it and then it being inedible was disgraceful. It was sent back to the kitchen, and a fresh one (we think) came back out. We were one of the last tables to finish , because our meals were so late, and the staff were cleaning up around us. To be fair, most of the staff seemed nice and did their best, but I feel that it was the kitchen staff that let the whole place down, which isn’t good as that’s the food was the reason we were there. The kitchen staff need to be better trained and organized and pay closer attention to what they’re being asked to do. The car park definatley needs more lighting at night time. As it was my birthday dinner, I was disappointed not to get the meal I’d hoped for, because they hadn’t thought to update the menu on their website, I didn’t look at the menu on the table as I naturally thought it was the same one I’d seen online, otherwise why put it on there if it’s not ?? I also would’ve loved to have had an Irish coffee, but as there wasn’t time, I couldn’t. All in all, it was a mediocre evening, and I’m afraid I won’t be booking here again. The best part was having my whole family with me, I just wish it hadn’t been so ‘meh’…….

Very...

This was our second visit to The Last Drop Elizabethan. Our first visit was just a quick stop for a look and a drink. This time, we booked for a meal. I had read the service was patchy and there was usually a long wait for food when busy. The service was decent, but the ladies at the bar didn’t exactly drop everything to serve waiting customers. The restaurant area bar was closed, which was odd, as 70% of the customers were in the restaurant when we arrived. Ordered a couple of drinks. The Last Drop Kolsch was great. We ordered the Pork ribs and the Chorizo and Prawn spaghetti. We only had to wait about 10 minutes for our meal, which was welcomed. The ribs were served with chips and a slaw salad. The ribs were perfectly cooked, tender and tasty. The chips were very good and the slaw was very good. The serving size was generous. It was $38, but it was nicely done and good value. The pasta dish arrived and looked like some plain spaghetti with a few prawns and some chorizo thrown in. It was a huge serve, but I was disappointed as it didn’t appear to have any sauce. But my fears were unfounded when I took the first mouthful. The pasta had a beautiful, subtle flavour that surprised me…..a shake of salt and it was next level good. The Chorizo just made every mouthful a delight and the prawns were juicy and cooked perfectly. It was a very plain looking dish that was more of a wolf in sheep’s clothing…..it was fantastic! Overall, it’s a lovely venue aesthetically and the food, whilst not cheap, is very well done and great value for money. The beer was excellent and the service was passable. It’s not somewhere I would take the disabled or elderly, as it’s built on the side of a hill. But we are keen to go back a bit earlier next time and have a few more drinks...

I really really wanted to give this place 5 stars, everything about this place was amazing. The location the decor the ambience, the open wood fire warming crackling. It was just an experience in itself. I haven't even gotten to the food phenomenal everyone in our party enjoyed they're food so much we had to share. Everything I tasted left me wanting more.

The only reason this review is a 3 star and not a 5 star is one simple reason. My friend and I ordered the same meal, Bangers and Mash my friends bowl came to the tables moments before mine and my eyes widened at its wonder, three perfectly cooked pork sausages lovely mash broccoli and beans in a beautiful gravy. All presenting in a large bowl required to accomodate such a large meal. Then the waitress brought my dish to the table the same meal order by my friend. The bowl half the size, 1 sausage not three, mash and veggies and a serving of gravy. I was completely taken aback and when I went to mention it to the waitress she was already gone. She had brought both dishes to the table at the same time I can not conceive how this occurred, random portion sizings and bowls seemed extremely odd.

My friend offered me one of his sausages which left me in a place where I didn't want to complain, I also didn't want to have to wait for the dish to be remade as my meal was already the last to arrive. It was the only downside to an otherwise great visit.

I will definitely be back if I am ever that far south again, and I would reccomend you check this place out but I can't in good conscious give it a higher rating, this should not happen in a restaurant setting.

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate the explanation next time I am up that way I will be...

After reading the Hey Perth online review, we thought we’d venture down to the Elizabethan Last Drop for the Sunday Roast, fully understanding it’s a Sunday, on a Long Weekend, and all the surcharges. I personally was disappointed in my roast, as the beef was very dry. The veggies were ok, and the Yorkshire pudding was a good touch, but I was surprised that I had to pay an additional $3.45 for a tiny pot of gravy, which essentially is just Gravox powder and hot water. Unfortunately it didn’t help with the dry roast beef. We asked if there was any condiments like horseradish, or mustards, but was told no, there is only BBQ & tomato sauce. Maybe they need to rethink the British style lunch without the condiments. So, after paying over $100 for 2 roast beef lunches and 2 drinks, and then still having to pay more for some gravy, I don’t think I’ll be rushing back. A shame really, as the Tudor pub and grounds look very nice, and there was a fair sized crowd, but unless it’s your local, maybe try somewhere else for a Sunday Roast.

Kids cheese burgers and fries were great and large, chicken parmigiana was very basic and bland, the salad side was old looking and a bit yuck, however the chips for each of our 4 meals were really good and I prefer them over my usual favourite pub's chips. This place has potential but it fell really short of what I hoped for... Disappointed as I cancelled a booking at the Cider house after reading the menu for the last drop thinking it was exactly what I wanted, despite the higher prices.... all to regret that decision... The highlights were the kids meals, with the icecreams that were included, and the actual look of the pub itself. Downsides were the parmigiana, salad, limited house brewed beer selection only on offer, atmosphere, under staffed bar and poor service plus the cost! Over priced for the experience... This review is based on a Tuesday afternoon, although there was lots of people there considering it was mid week.
