Patchy service and average food.
I’d heard a lot about this place so made a booking for a Saturday evening with family. We arrived around 7:30 and the restaurant was almost full. The menu looked interesting with plenty of steak options and other traditional foods. We noted that steaks could take up to half an hour after ordering.
Service was inconsistent. Drinks were ordered and they all came out at different times. How challenging can it be to deliver three drinks at the same time? This happened repeatedly all evening. Constantly had to chase down where drink orders were.
Entrees of garlic bread and boerwoer sausage arrived around 15-20 minutes after order and were just ok. The bread didn’t really taste like bread. More like a gluten free offering.
Mains took forever to arrive. And all four meals came separately and at least 5 minutes apart. Again, how hard should it be to deliver meals together? The first meal was finishing just as the last arrived. The service staff are all young, inexperienced and not well trained by the management team. Diners regularly enquired about meals. Nothing on any table came out together. There was no system in place to ensure diners on each table got to eat together.
Our wait was made entertaining by the neighbours cat, which roamed the restaurant, hopping onto diners seats, weaving it’s way under diners feet. Cute, but probably not ideal in terms of health regulation compliance.
The curry was enjoyed by our mum. My eye fillet steak, ordered medium rare, came out medium well and was dry and not the best. The porterhouse looked like a rump with huge pieces of fat down the side.
When the porterhouse vs. rump was queried, the chef came to the table, indignant that a diner should dare to query their fine fare. They confidently asserted that we didn’t know the difference between a porterhouse and a rump (we did!) and insisted that we were wrong.
The evening ended with another visit from Kitchen staff to again challenge us on our steak awareness. Again the management confidentiality and arrogantly asserted we were wrong (we weren’t). It would seem that the customer is never right at the Leopard Lodge so take note.
All in all a disappointing experience. Patchy service, average food, rude management, coupled with a long drive to the middle of nowhere. There are better restaurants with better service, better food and better attitude. Reward them rather than this place. Or go on a Wednesday evening when they have time to...
Read moreI have been to leopard Lodge a few years back and decided to have a date night there. Now I want to state that I called at 6pm to book for 7.30pm on Saturday night and they did cater for us. Appreciate that. Unfortunately we were jammed in on a small two seater table right by the door way, Wait staff were struggling to get past myself and having to slide themselves between my chair and the table next to us. I ended up having to move and jam myself back to back with another customers seat. People and kids were constantly coming in and out and slamming the door over and over. There were two people whom went out a number of times for cigarette's smoking right at the doorway. So while trying to enjoy our evening there were people having to walk through their cigarette smoke to get inside. Then the door would open and it would come in as a big woft. ( disgusting) As we only had an hour to eat. I asked for wait times on food as the restaurant was packed before we ordered as otherwise we were going to leave. Although we did not mention this to staff. The chef came and spoke to us and said she would cook our meal straight away. Super appreciative of this as they were 100% under the pump. To Be put before the other customers in the building is 10 star service. Food came out within 20 mins later. My fiancé ordered the sarangetti chicken. She rated this five stars , Tender, juicy delicious. Myself ordered the 450gm eye fillet medium. I was really wanting an amazing steak as to why I came to leopard lodge. The menu stated medium as Tender! no blood and pink on the inside. Which is how i like my steak. What I got was medium rare , blood , raw in the middle and chewy gristly. I cook a lot of steak and to me the heat was to low and the cook time was too short. For $55 which is up on the higher end price of the scale of restaurants. As the chef had gone out of her way to cook our meals so fast and deliver to the table personally I did not want to be rude. As that is real customer service you dont get anywhere in Perth. I will be back and I will try again when we have more time to wait for the meal. Thankyou chef you are amazing for helping us out with...
Read moreMy partner and I had a lovely dinner here tonight. This was our first time here and we plan to come back again. The atmosphere is gorgeous. Such a lovely African setting. I really felt like I was in an African hunting lodge. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. I had the full rack of pork ribs. The Monkey Gland sauce on top of the ribs is to die for. I wish they sold it in bottles to take home. My ribs were cooked well, maybe a little too well. I like my ribs to fall off the bone, unfortunately these didn't, but the side of delicious chips and salad helped to make up for it. My partner had the African parmigiana. I tried his chicken and it was so good. It was so juicy and tender I almost had food order remorse. Next time we go we want to try the share platter. We noticed a lot of diners were ordering this. I was pleased to see how popular the restaurant was. It is very family friendly, lots of parents and children. Also good for couples and friends wanting a good night out. I was impressed that despite how busy it was it wasn't loud in the restaurant. You can easily chat with your dinner party and be heard. I definitely recommend booking as it is pretty busy. We went on a Saturday night. I went through their website to book and had no problems. All up a great evening out. We definitely plan...
