Seriously disappointed with the service and food at Masonmill... My best friend and I went out to Masonmill for lunch today and it all started with our arrival - the table that we had booked 2 weeks ago was being used by someone else, so we had to wait. When we had been seated, the waitress took our order for drinks and our starter but rushed off before we could order our mains. Don't get me wrong, this waitress was very friendly - but we didn't see her for the rest of our visit, nor did she even look over at our table again.
When our starter was brought out to us, we told the waitress that we wanted to order mains too - which she then told us to wait until someone came to collect the dish from our starter and then order our mains then. We actually wanted to order our mains while we eat our starters so that it would be ready by the time we had finished, but that didn't seem like an option and little did we know we would be waiting so long for the next person to come to our table...
After we had finished our starter, we spent the next 20 minutes trying to get a waitress to notice us, to notice that our plate was empty, to notice that both of us had empty glasses... nothing. So my friend went up to the counter and had to ask for someone to come and take our order - the cashier was not happy about her asking for such a difficult task...
When the waitress had finally come to take our order, we received nothing but attitude. She was blunt, mumbling, and even gave my friend attitude because she didn't want veggies in her burger. Very rude.
While we waited for our food to be made, we observed what was going on around us in the restaurant - there were 3 waitresses standing around just chatting in the kitchen area, there was an abundance of dishes being left on the kitchen window waiting to be served to other customers, there were tables that had leftover food that needed clearing and there were other people complaining about how they hadn't been able to place their order yet due to the slow service. The restaurant was not busy, this was clear as the waitresses were clearly happy standing around having a good old chin wag.
After a 45 minute wait for our food, it had finally made it to our table. No apologies for the delay, no 'enjoy', nothing but a big old plonk of the plate on the table. The pizza that I had definitely was not worth the 45 minute wait nor the $26 I paid. The ham was just thrown onto the pizza, it hadn't even been cut - just big slices of ham chucked on (which made it hard to eat), and the cheese was piled on by the bucket load. It was just a big mess.
After getting halfway through our meals we decided it was time to leave, we were past hungry and weren't enjoying the food enough to stay any longer. When we went up to pay, the cashier didn't even ask about how our food or experience was . So here you go, that's how it was.
It's such a beautiful restaurant with stunning surroundings in an awesome location, but the service just seriously destroys the whole thing. I would have been happy to pay the $26 for a pizza and wait 45 minutes if it were good food and good service, but it...
Read moreAfter reading glowing reviews about the ambience and hospitality of this place we decided to go for lunch in here today. Parking was full at the front, so we used the overflow area and entered through the back gate- apparently. Since there was no information about the seating arrangement- wait to be seated or find a spot and sit, we saw most of the tables were marked “Reserved”-except for one table for two, so assuming it was available, we sat down.
Hubby went to get the menu. Since the seat was in the sun, I went to look around if I can find any other spot in the shade but was unsuccessful. However, a staff(girl) was cleaning a table, again with a reservation sign, so I asked her if the table is free to be seated now or somebody else is coming soon. She said a couple was coming behind her(which they did) so I apologized and moved forward. I couldn’t find any other spot so I came back to the table in the sun.
Hubby brought the menu but he said he couldn’t find the drinks menu so I went at the bar area and asked for the menu, the staff handed me the menu without a smile or greeting. We ordered the food which arrived after 15-20 mins.
Midway through our meal, the same girl staff approached us to say the table was actually reserved for someone at 1pm. We explained her, since there was no reservation sign on the table we thought it was free to sit. Then she started explaining us that the front entrance is the way to come and they could’ve assigned the table to us that way. She then said, we have to move to other table which she said she will “find” us. However, she never returned to clear if we got to move or can stay and continue our meal which left us embarrassed and insulted in front of other diners. So we decided to get a takeout box and leave.
Looking back, I think this whole situation could have been avoided if the girl had simply guided us from the beginning, since she clearly saw me unsure about the seating arrangement. While I admit it was partly our fault for not asking them directly, I believe in any new place (restaurant), you expect staff to guide the customers to ensure a pleasant experience. Instead, we were met with unfriendly and uninviting attitudes from start to finish.
Regarding the food, it wasn’t that exceptional either. My fish and chips came with a wilted salad, and my husband said his steak sandwich was average at its best.
It was our first visit to this place and likely be our last — at least to the restaurant. The grounds may be worth a look, but the service and food fell extremely short of...
Read moreThis is a comparison with other places in the area and pretty much Perth. You get all excited going there for a date cause the place looks nice with roses and all the flowers. Walked into the cafe and "it says please pick your seat and order at the counter" I wanted sit outside cause the whole point of coming here is for view cause menu just looked like very basic pub menu. But I was directed to a seat inside the indoor area with no view. I asked the lady so are we sitting outside cause as you can see im here on a date so a view would be nice. "Nope" it for bigger groups. And I was bit confused cause its 2 pm and they close soon so no big group is going to come obviously. That should have made me leave the place straight away but I was not alone so I had to make it work. Menu was a really basic. The mains where burgers, pasta and fish. Normally when I see a menu like that its run by home cooks so it must be a passionate person. So ordered the "home style beef burger". And since I was already at the counter I asked for tap water. And guess what the cup was for water, when Australia has banned banned the use of plastic bags and every other place uses alternatives to plastic. We get disposable plastic cups in a cafe instead of glass. So now I was wondering how the food is going to taste if they can't afford a glass when you pay $25 for a very basic burger. So when I did get my burger it looked like a pub burger. The salad inside the burger is same as the salad garnish outside the burger which is kinda pointless. Normally ths fries are shoestring or wedges or beer battered with burgers but these fries looked like basic cheapo fries. Maybe its not in the looks. Took a bit of it and it just tasted exactly like a patty from the supermarkets. All they did was add a bit of salt. Ate 1/4 way through and patty was cold in the middle. So thats means straight from freezer to the grill. Definetly not home style patty. Got it remade and anyone would not be bothered to eat it after that. Definetly not a place for younger folks who have eaten around more like an old folks cafe who like pub style food and cakes. 2 stars for rose garden. I would probs not come back. This is my opinion and no offense...
