Located on Frenchmans Bay Road, relatively close to the Denmark Road interchange. It is on the roadside in front of the Chalets on Frenchman. The restaurant is relatively low key and non-descriptive from the street.

We decided to book on the basis of some of the more recent reviews. In hindsight we should have checked more carefully. When we arrived on a Saturday night we were surprised that there was only one other table in a fairly expansive dining area occupied. Not quite one of the hottest restaurants in town as described on their website.

The menu is relatively eclectic, not certain what cuisine they were highlighting - felt a little confused. We ended up selecting the Rock Salt Oysters Rockefeller ($19.50) and the Smoked Pulled Pork Yorkies ($17) for entrĂ©es. My Yorkshire puddings were stuffed with tender, moist smoky pork shoulder - a real Tex-Mex flavour, although would have liked more than a dollop of the birria sauce. My wife’s oysters didn’t look like the picture on the website, with the three oysters with the crunchy green topping completely overwhelming the oysters, to such an extent she found it hard to determine whether the oysters were baked or raw as they tasted partly cooked.

For our mains we went with Chef Rosa's Ceylon Coastal Journey ($33.50) and Chef MIchelle's Signature Lemon Herb Chicken Francaise ($30). I’m not certain why you would ever serve grilled Barramundi with a brown spicy gravy. It was almost like they were more concerned about how it looked on the plate rather than how it tasted. boasts a crispy skin, swimming in a velvety coconut gravy infused with Sri Lankan spices. The caramel-glazed grilled baby carrots and beetroot puree were pure 1970s - not certain what the three yellow dollops on the plate were or what purpose they served. The Sri Lankan tuna potato croquet reminded me of local short eats from my time in that country not that it had any relationship to the frozen fillet of barramundi. The coconut sambola was the biggest disappointment on the plate. I make this at home and it is nothing like this dry miserable serving. The chicken cutlets had been tenderised so much that they ended up overcooked and tough rather than being plump & moist. The sauce was so lemon that it detracted from the dish. Not certain what value the spaghetti added.

When we went to order deserts, we were told that 1/2 the dishes weren’t available - even though there were only four other dinners on a Saturday night. Decided to go with the sticky date pudding with butterscotch drizzle ($13.50) and the tiramisu ($13.50). The pudding was moist but the sauce was hardly luscious and lacked that rich sticky butterscotch flavour. The tiramisu was average but not authentic slice of heaven nor ‘unbeatable’.

The strawberry mojito was nice and refreshing as were the local wines. Just wish they had offered some local craft beers.

We did try and discuss it with ‘Chef’ Michelle but she was lacked knowledge about the dishes and after to speaking to ‘Chef’ Rosa was very defensive about the way the food was cooked, saying they cooked it that way because that’s how the locals like. Judging by the lack of patrons the locals are after something different.

We just felt that the menu was confused with Western, Italian, Malaysian, Mexican, English and Sri Lankan dishes. It just felt like a mashup of cuisines none of which went well together.

Until they work that out I wouldn’t be recommending as this as exceptional dining or...

Last Thursday night my boyfriend's family decided to take me for a 'nice' dinner at Frenchies before I left Albany for Perth. Upon arrival we were in awe having noticed only two people in the entire restaurant and were reluctant to stay. Regretfully, we decided to stay and test the food.

Our waitress was a short, younger lady and was very pleasant. We ordered our drinks and entrĂšs and waited in the restaurant in fear (honestly) because the place was completely empty and the only other people there had left after just one plate of food. The atmosphere of the restaurant was lovely. When our entrĂšs arrived, one of them (one rib served on seven potato fries) was as salty as the damn manager and another plate (soup: cauliflower & lamb) was plain disgusting. I don't mean to be rude but all four of us tried the dish and were absolutely appalled.

We waited for our mains to arrive which took quite some time and at that point we were already wanting to leave but didn't as it would be rude. When our plates FINALLY arrived they were well decorated but did not hide the strange combinations of food and poorly cooked items. Our biggest concern was a plate of duck, vegetables and 'mashed' potato which turned out to be chewy, overcooked (looked like smakos that you feed a dog) and WAY oversalted! Another element of the plate that was appalling was the so called mashed potato which looked like bubble and squeak with boiled red cabbage adorning the top of it. It was inedible. This was not the only plate which did not match our standards and the price listed on the menu.

The manager approached us to ask how our meal was and we gave honest, constructive feedback in which she completely deflected and argued against. We were only offered money back for one plate which still totalled almost $200. Our night was completely ruined and that night myself and two others found ourselves feeling quite ill with upart stomachs.

My boyfriend's mother decided to write up an honest review on tripadviser just a few days ago and was attacked by the manager and we were named scumbags. I do not recommend anyone EVER stepping foot in this restaurant and I don't like to say this easily as I also work in...

Amazing Experience at Rock Salt Albany

We recently dined at Rock Salt Albany, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the service was excellent, thanks to our server Michelle, who was attentive throughout the night.

What We Ordered:

‱ Starters: The pulled pork yorkies were a delightful appetizer with a crispy exterior and flavorful filling. The bowl of chips was a great side, too—crispy and well-seasoned. ‱ Mains: The lamb shank was perfectly tender and fell off the bone, a true highlight of the night. We also tried the chicken Francaise, which was equally delicious, with a lemon sauce. The vegan dish was a pleasant surprise, showing the kitchen’s versatility. The coastal journey fish was a fun twist, with rich flavors and a comforting texture. ‱ Desserts: The sticky date pudding, lemon meringue pie, and tiramisu were the perfect ending to our meal. The desserts were indulgent and delicious, with the sticky date pudding being the standout.

Overall, the portions were generous, and the quality of each dish exceeded our expectations. The menu offers something for everyone, whether you’re a meat lover or prefer vegetarian or vegan options. We highly recommend Rock Salt for anyone visiting Albany who is looking for a fantastic...

Rosa - Your Frenchy's Restaurant is the "Jewel in the Crown" in Albany's fine dining restaurants. We love Albany and come every year to enjoy the beautiful beaches and since we discovered Frenchy's Restaurant 4 years ago we do not need an excuse not to come to Albany. Frenchy's Restaurant & Tea Rooms would take 1st prize in the Gold Plate awards anywhere. It is on par with any fine dinning restaurant in Perth. The menu is to die for with so many different types of dishes, there is something for everyone. We have just about gone through the menu and never had a disappointing meal. What we love is the way Rosa always takes time to welcome you and makes you feel special, not just another customer. Rosa's staff, after you have received your meal will come and make sure it is to your liking, are very friendly and polite. You never have to wait very lone for your food to arrive which is always hot. The portions are very generous and the food presentation is second to none. Beautifully laid out dinning area, you have plenty of room and always spotless. If you just want to come for a yummy afternoon tea - you've got it here, or lunch - Frenchy's caters for every one. Frenchy's you are the best xx

I dropped in purely on spec, returning from Goode Beach. I wasn't even sure the place was open, as there were no cars in the car park. Still, it was early on Saturday evening, and I figured that perhaps the road works out front were putting people off, too. I am so glad I stopped! Having a fine dining restaurant entirely to yourself is an odd experience and affected the atmosphere a little, but the service from the young woman who greeted me with a warm smile when I walked in was impeccable throughout the entire evening, and the food was just excellent. The menu is not extensive but does offer something for everyone, and the wine list provides a small but thoughtful selection of local wines. Various beers, soft drinks, tea and coffee, etc, are also all available. I selected the parmesan bread as a starter and one of the chef's signature dishes, lamb shank, for my main meal, with a glass of Wignall's Pinot Noir. The parmesan bread was very tasty, and the lamb was just melt-off-the-bone delicious, amoung the best I've ever had. I decided to forgo desert this time, but am definitely looking forward to the sticky date pudding on my next visit!
