Really disappointed. Used to go all the time but ownership must have changed and is now not worth visiting.
Ordered a chicken wrap, a croquette, 2x coffees and a breakfast wrap.
The food used to be made fresh daily, now the 'fresh' wraps contain machine processed ingredients and are equivalent to grocery store / service station pre packed quality. Although I asked for a full wrap, they bought out half a wrap.
The croquettes tasted like packet potato mix is used. The pastries no longer look fresh made in house and the smoothies on offer are also pre packaged not fresh. They have lost a variety of items, the friendly atmosphere has been replaced by a generic attempt at a 'holistic' vibe with pan flute music playing.
Unfortunately the experience was not improved by the attitude of the staff where their frustrations from the day were visible and there was a lack of friendliness in greeting. They came out with one coffee (not two) & miss-called the order so we weren't aware it was ours before throwing up their hands in frustration & stomping back inside when they couldn't find the intended recipient.
We ended up going in to ask if it may have been one of ours then were treated like an inconvenience for not realising it was. Although we ordered two coffees, they forgot one entirely from the order and we were then charged separately to have the mistake rectified. After getting both coffees they tasted like they had dish soap / descaler in them.
The price for the original order was such that we would have expected all the items we asked for to have been put through, as they weren't that gives you an idea on the prices.
Would have taken photos but gave it to the...
Read moreWe used to love this coffee shop/bakery and would visit at least a few times a week. Since the new owners have taken over, we avoid and would rather walk a further 20 mins to Brus for coffee and eats. Coffee has gone up $2 (and the new owners do not give the amazing free biccy with coffee that we used to get - v disappointing) and they do not offer the old sausage rolls as dog treats - not to mention the price of the bread now - previously $6.50 for a sourdough loaf and now $9.50! After spending $35 on two coffees, a sandwich and a small and tasteless frittata, we will not be back.
Having spoken with the v stressed owner, my understanding is she owns another cafe in Freo. Note to owner - Singleton is not Freo. You cannot demand the same prices, especially if the quality is not exceptional. I truly hope you heed the reviews from the locals and make this bakery again the friendly, quality local...
Read morePrior to 13/12/2023 this bakery was my go to for bakery products especially bread (big white loaf @ $4.50), at least 3 times per week. Happy to support small local business rather than big supermarket chains, however, with new management this morning we found out their products are not baked in store but are brought in from off-site. Went to purchase usual white loaf bread and was told it now cost $9.15 ! There is no way I or anyone in their right mind would pay for "white bread" at the new price, regardless what premium ingredients it is baked from. What will your price of coffee, pies, and sweets be now - more than a loaf of bread? Sorry, but you have lost my business and support as a local resident...
