The Ashby Bar and Bistro, let’s take it step by step shall we? Chicken Parmigiana: The chicken parmigiana was like a half-hearted apology from a forgetful chef. “Oh, you wanted bacon? My bad!” The bacon must’ve been on vacation, sunbathing in the Bahamas while your plate remained tragically bare. The chicken itself? Well, it was as exciting as a beige wall. “OK” is the culinary equivalent of a shrug – uninspired, unremarkable, and utterly forgettable. Scotch Fillet: Ah, the scotch fillet – a piece of meat that had clearly seen better days. But wait, what’s this? It’s been charred to oblivion! The chef must’ve mistaken the grill for a volcanic eruption. The poor fillet screamed, “I used to be tender and juicy!” but alas, it was now a carbonized relic. The flavor? Lost in the smoky abyss. A 3/5? That’s generous; it’s like giving a participation trophy to a burnt log. Chilli Mussels (Gluten-Free Option): Ah, the gluten-free option – because nothing says “culinary creativity” like removing bread and calling it a day! The mussels swam in a watery sauce, like they were auditioning for a role in a seafood-themed horror movie. The spiced flavor tried to break free, but the water held it hostage. 3/5? More like a desperate cry for help. Dessert – Bread and Butter Pudding: Finally, a glimmer of hope! The bread and butter pudding danced onto the stage, warm and inviting. It whispered, “I’ve got your back, mate.” The custard clung to the bread like a comforting hug, and the raisins played a sweet symphony. Delicious? Absolutely! It left you satisfied, like a well-fed cat after a feast of cream and dreams. But wait! The real star of this culinary circus emerges: Ruby, the Waitress! 🌟 Ruby, with her smile brighter than a supernova, swooped in like a culinary superhero. She fixed mistakes faster than a Formula 1 pit crew – forgotten bacon? Sorted! Charred fillet? She’d have the chef’s head on a platter (figuratively, of course). Ruby, my dear, you’re the diamond in this coal mine of mediocrity. The patrons may forget the food, but they’ll remember Ruby’s kindness forever. So, dear Ashby Bar and Bistro, take heed: Your kitchen needs a Gordon Ramsay intervention. And Ruby? Give her a raise, a cape, and a lifetime supply of bacon. She’s the hero this joint...

The hostess Kelly misheard my order (likely due to the connor mcgregor match being blasted today) which isn't so bad, but she then proceeded to be incredibly rude, condescending, and argumentative, and tried to tell me i had ordered the meal brought out to me.
I tried to make light of it saying "well you might have head Classic Burger instead of Nasi Goreng because its pretty loud in here today" and i got a very defensive "no, it doesn't sound anything alike, this is what you ordered". Even after others at the table confirmed that the order was wrong she tried to get me to take the meal.
It took her coming back to the table twice, and me telling her twice (in addition to the original staff member) that I wasn't going to take the burger and prompting her to suggest a resolution that wasn't me taking the incorrect meal for her to finally agree to get the correct order made, with a very sarcastic "you're going to have to wait for it" before leaving.
No apology from her, and i definitely didn't appreciate watching her gossip to the other staff at the front desk sending dagger stares our way throughout the meal as it definitely put a dampener on the celebration.
To top it all off, we were charged for the burger that nobody took, and had to speak to a manager to resolve the bill.
Unfortunately this review could have been really positive, as the other staff were very friendly and everyone loved the food today, and I've been several times before and never had an issue, but unfortunately we might have to find another place to have all of our family meal events if this is how customers are treated when...
Read moreThe Ashsby Bar & Bistro is quite large inside with plenty of table and chairs including a sports bar area and outdoor smoking area. Although not a great deal of choices on the menu (see photo) they have special nights where they may have Pizza one night on special or Steak on one night at discounts prices. I went with a group of 4 of us and all our meals where cooked to perfection and were what we expected. The table service/staff were all exceptionally good, courteous, polite and friendly with smiles on their faces. Once we had ordered our drinks and meals, the drinks came out to us within 6 mins and then 10 minutes later our meals came out. If was a very busy night the night the night we went so we expected that we would have to wait but was pleasantly surprised. The service /wait staff came around a few minutes after our meals were served and ask if everything was ok with the meals (which is the way it should be – so many places leave it too late or don’t ask at all) The Ashby was clean with wait staff cleaning tables as soon as people had left. Toilets were clean and stocked. The only reason I have given a 4 star out of 5 is because The menu wasn’t very extensive and the people we were with had trouble deciding on what to have as they like certain things that were not on the menu. It was exceptionally noisy and I think although it was very busy, the acoustics in the dining area are not great due to possibly the lower ceilings However overall we had a great time, meals all cooked to perfections, and will definitely be going back. Also if you hold an entertainment book they offer buy one get one meal free (as of July...
