We contacted Debbie about a possible lunch visit by our group of 12 people, and on the morning of the visit, confirmed the number and the time. The calls were all very professionally taken. It was nice that we arrived during Happy Hour. I got to buy and taste a few wines. The variety of wines from the southern region was quite impressive. Bloody good wines too! I ordered Marron Fettucini while a few of us ordered Marron Laksa, Thai Green Curry and Butterfly Marron. My dish was a little dry. Debbie added extra sauce, and it was good. We ended up chatting about how the more subtle marron taste contrasted with that of crayfish, and I gathered that there was a balance to be had in the use of sauce. I thought it would be a challenge to cater for different palates. In all, our big group posed, for some, a challenge in receiving a 100% experience. When a few orders seemed to have been wrongly done, the owner was apologetic. I concluded that one needed to know the taste of this delectable crustacean especially if eaten for the first time. I would return and sample more dishes on offer.

My wife and I went for a birthday lunch. Booked and given a table by the window looking out over farmland. Service was great and very pleasant. Able to answer all questions about the food and wine as able to talk to a real person and not an IPad. We are from the Perth and hate that trend. Ordered the marron tasting plate to share as entrees. Very suitable to share if ordering a mains. We both ordered the grilled marron as a main course. I asked for chips instead of salad as I had seen chips available as a separate item. No problem at all. Marron was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of garlic. The chips were excellent; crunchy and soft in the middle. For dessert, I had the homemade vanilla slice with a fruit coulis. Delicious and the coulis almost a fruit compote. Rounded off the meal with a West Cape Howe white. Would most definitely recommend this restaurant.

We were lucky enough to be able to use The Marron Tale as our wedding venue. We had a marquee put up close to the cafe. So the cafe and staff were utilised for catering and the running of the bar. This made the logistics of catering very easy. The catering was just what we asked for. A huge task considering there was over 120 guests with a formal sit down meal involved. The cafe provided hourdourves and a main meal for all. The main meal was brought out in a timely manner which worked well with the scheduling of our wedding. The area around the cafe is beautiful with green lawns and nice trees (Lipstick maples). We have seen alot of our friends with photos of them on the lawns popping up on facebook. All in all a beautful venue for a wedding. We couldnt be happier. We would like to give a special thank you to the whole team at The Marron Tale And to the owners Deb and Grant.

I’ll start with the positives, the place was cute, small, but a bit dull. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The marron was perfectly cooked and tasted beautiful. The sourdough was also nice. Here’s the massive but though, the kitchen was chaos, constant shouting and confusion. Every dish that came out was accompanied with “apologies for the mistake” and/or “apologies for the wait”. We booked well in advance and despite being the only booking in the dining room, were given the worst table, we would have loved to have been near a window where we could have admired the view. I ordered Deb’s Favourite. It took just under an hour from ordering to being served, there were only 5 tables of two people each (including us) in the dining room, we got an “apologies for the wait”. The dish cost $39. For that I received one small marron, one bread bun, two lettuce leaves, one cherry tomato- halved, one slice of cucumber- halved, 1/4 slice of onion and 7 flakes of Parmesan, I wish I was joking but I’m not, their profit margins must be huge considering they grow the marron on site. Food flavour 5 stars, quantity per serving, value for money, service and atmosphere all 0 stars. I definitely will not go back and won’t be recommending this venue to...

Nice spot for a tasty lunch. Obviously the main drawcard is the marron, so expect to leave with a dent in your wallet. They do have non-marron options - the burgers looked great. I've been spoilt with access to marron from friends farms, so I was a little shocked at the small amount of marron on each plate considering the price, though this is pretty standard with the high costs of marron. Worth the price for anyone who wants it though, as they are tasty little crayfish! A large table near us had an amazing giant platter of marron to share (shudder to think what it cost), & some others who were staying in Peaceful Bay came out just to pick up a couple of big bowls of marron to take back. The outdoor seating is great with a pleasant outlook. There's plenty of grass for the kids & dogs to run around, & some swings & a big sandpit with toys etc for the kids to keep occupied. There's a couple of young maples planted in front of the building which will look awesome once they're grown. The staff were lovely & helpful - immediately stepping in to help when my mum's dish came out with egg on the salad (she's allergic), returning with a replaced salad egg-free. Worth a visit for a tasty treat...
