Woodcutters restaurant in the heart Swan Valley at Nikola Estate winery is set in absolutely stunning grounds, a combination of vineyard and parkland with huge windows to enjoy the views while dining. The warm, rustic ambiance sets the stage for an unforgettable dining experience, with charming decor and lighting. The menu is an amazing blend of comfort food and gourmet cuisine. We started with their wood-fired fermented flatbread and smoked ricotta, which was topped with vinegared tomatoes – an amazing combination of flavours. The entrée scallop dish is an exquisite masterpiece. The scallops were seared to perfection, with a beautiful golden crust on the outside and a tender, melt-in-your-mouth texture on the inside. The pairing with chestnut mushrooms added an earthy richness that complemented the delicate sweetness of the scallops. The quince vinegar brought a subtle tanginess that cut through the richness, creating a harmonious balance of flavours. The chenin blanc sauce was the star of the show, with its velvety smoothness enhancing every bite - a testament to the chef's skill and creativity. The confit duck was nothing short of spectacular, incredibly tender, succulent, flavourful meat with a crispy exterior. The inclusion of persimmon provided a sweetness that paired beautifully with the savory duck. The grilled cabbage – slightly charred, added a smokiness and a slight crunch that contrasted perfectly with the tender meat. Golden raisins were the perfect finishing touch, adding bursts of sweetness to the savory and smoky flavours. The presentation was as impressive as the taste, with each component thoughtfully arranged to create a visually stunning plate. This and the other fellow diner dishes on the table are a true testament to the chef's artistry and attention to detail. Would give it another 5...

Sad to say I am extremely disappointed with Woodcutters Restaurant . We booked a table for 12 to celebrate my 60th birthday on 1st June 2024. I chose Woodcutters as my husband and I had dined here before and enjoyed great food ambience and service. However, on 23/5 my husband received a voicemail from the restaurant advising they were unable to honour our booking due to a private function on the same date and there had been a problem with their system and the date had not been blocked out! We had booked the table back in April and I’m struggling to understand why this glitch in their system had not been picked up sooner? My husband called back and was told this was an oversight and they were sorry, but they could not honour our booking of 12 people for my birthday celebration! No other option was offered. My husband asked to speak with the manager, who was unavailable, but would call us back. She did call the following day and just reiterated they could not honour our booking. She apologised and offered a bottle of wine for the inconvenience! I apologise for this long review, but I really feel let down that this restaurant has given such short notice in dishonouring our booking and literally shirked accountability by blaming their booking system! They have shown zero empathy towards myself and my birthday guests. I thought an establishment such as this would show a greater level...

A beautiful setting, but training of the staff is definitely needed here. I ordered the starter which didn't mention Octopus until the Waiter explained it was in the ingredients. I explained I didn't like Octopus and could it be left out and so he went off to check. He came back and told me they couldn't do the Starter without it, so I assumed it must have been some sort of pre mixed cocktail. However when a Friend had hers served it was two small pieces perched on the edge of the Plate. After just ordering bread as I don't eat Meat, I was quite cheesed off and when bringing it up to the Waiter he said 'we are really short staffed in the Kitchen today' and so I did point out that because they were short staffed it would be less work as they wouldn't have had to place the Octopus on the plate!! It was a very poor thought through excuse and the reply to my statement was 'well you know how these Chefs are'!! Absolutely terrible response and Nikola I think you need better customer service training for...

Had lunch here today and I am so impressed. From the moment we arrived until we left, the service was outstanding. With one of our group having a allergies the attention to detail was fabulous. They moved us to a smaller table due to some unable to come and stated "We just need to change the cutlery for the person with allergies". Every dish was clearly explained for potential allergies. The food was delicious, kangaroo, pork cheeks, chicken and the duck. Kangaroo and duck was my favourite! But all so good. Potatoes beautifully crispy. And desert. Wow! All desert had nuts so they offered to make a unique plate for that person. We ended up sharing all four deserts and I can't say anything bad about them, but the Lemon Curd desert was my favourite. Wine was good and they allowed us to evenly split the bill. Definitely going back!

Our mid-week self guided wine tour started at the Nikola Estate as we wanted to try out the Woodcutters resturant. We had a warm welcome and the table service was outstanding. It was a cooler day so we decided to sit indoors, but in the summer we would choose to sit outside under the vine trellis. The menu had a good selection. My chicken with cous cous (see pictures) was well balanced and athough it looked like a small serving, it filled me up. I also recommend the wine tasting which you can do while you wait for your food. There is plenty of parking with a couiple of disabled spots and wheelchair access is good.

We had my 70th birthday lunch at Woodcutters today and the setting was as good as it ever was, a parkland estate, extremely well appointed. The new restaurant is exceptional with inside and under verandah dining opportunities with floor to ceiling glazing allowing the parkland aesthetic to be shared from any position. The menu, service and atmosphere were exceptional with food very honest and well selected, prepared and presented. Congratulations to staff and management.
