What a fantastic place!

For Larry’s 50th Birthday we headed to the Whitton Malt House for lunch. It was recommended by the owner of the farm Larry’s working on. This place is more than meets the eye. . 🥃 They have a large beautiful restaurant and cellar door. You will find they have so much more than Whisky, and can choose from a range of tipples including the local Barellan Beer. Great coffee and patisseries are also on offer ☕️ After lunch we had a walk around the picturesque grounds where you will find some fun recreational activities. . 🎣 The main feature is the lake which is where you are able to catch and release Murray cod. Rod hire is $10 for half an hour. Bring back a picture of the tag on your catch to win a prize. That might be a gift voucher up to $75 or a hamper. Around the lake are well manicured gardens with cool sculptures by Tobias Bennett. The lake also has a waterfall which you can walk under or sit on top of and take in the view. . ⛳️ Are you in to Golf? You can have a bucket of 36 golf balls for $10 and have a crack at the one hole, lake golf. What the? I hear you say.. In the lake are raised coloured funnels (for want of a better word?) If you get a ball in one of these, you win a prize. The prizes range from a night at the Malt House, $10 to $200 vouchers. . If you did win a night’s stay, you would be sleeping in one of their lakeside villas. I was going to book us in for Larry’s birthday but they book out quickly. I guess that shows you how good the place is. . Now, I did hear that they might be having an area for caravans/motorhomes so I sent them a message to confirm. This was their reply... “It is definitely something that is in the works but we haven't been given a timeline as yet”. So watch this space as we will defiantly be adding it to our list. In fact we still might book in for a night in one of the villas at some point. . Kids will love the playground. Big and little kids will love the big Connect 4 & big wooden Ker-plunk along with the been bags to...

Five stars all the way. On our arrival we were surprised at how lovely the venue was. The grounds are immaculate with beautiful gardens, outdoor seating, water features, catch and release fishing, even a golf hitting range where prizes can be won. We then stepped inside the Malt House with a well stocked bar, huge dining area, beautiful gift shop and cafe that serves pies, sandwiches, sweet treats and delicious coffee - it was the best we had tasted in a long time. We stayed two nights in a couple villas they are well presented and just enough in the kitchen to prepare meals when the restaurant isn't open, on our stay there were cook your self hamper options if you forgot to bring your own food. The staff are mostly locals that hold a true pride in their area and the facility. Nothing was too hard, they went above and beyond to see that our needs were met, even down to finding some washing detergent and showing us how to use the coin operated washing machine and dryer. They'd have a chat when ever they saw us, we felt like long lost friends. We had a whisky tasting which was both entertaining and informative, Jo truly knows what she's talking about and her passion for the craft really shines. It was heart warming to see that they show case and support Australian made Crafted beer brewers and whisky distillers. We can't thank Kelly enough for organizing our stay, the very friendly welcome and looking after us the entire stay. The staff are a true testament to the Malt House. The vision they have for expanding the facilities even further are exciting and who knows maybe one day there will be outdoor concerts, ample room for caravaners to rest a while and hopefully some sort of water activities. If you're travelling in country NSW and want a bit of luxury stop in and say hi. We're planning our next...

The lovely setting of the Whitton Malt House grounds and function room definitely set the scene for a memorable family wedding. I particularly liked how we were miles from nowhere, surrounded by agricultural fields for as far as the eye could see. An undercover terrace outside the function room (complete with tables, seating and gas heaters), overlooked a lake. The lake, with its water spout, was a beautiful central feature. Some in our group enjoyed the onsite aqua golf. Boutique cabins dotted the eastern shoreline for those who didn't wish to do the 35-min / 45km drive back to Griffith. My brother stayed overnight and rated his experience as excellent, clean & comfy.||The function centre was the standout with its beautifully-decorated tables, mood candle lighting throughout, giant sandstone fireplace ablaze, and some really impressive food! The platters of whole legs of the tenderest lamb that easily fell apart with just tongs were really something, along with platters of twice-cooked potatoes and greens complementing the lamb. No-one left hungry! Afterwards, a huge selection of petit desserts were on offer - including mini biscoff cheesecakes.||The Whitton Malt House is a stunning location for a special occasion or for calling in to their restaurant for brekkie or lunch. Dinner is Fri & Sat. They really do things well across the board, including clean bathrooms and accommodation. If I had to fault anything, perhaps keep in mind that this is a working property, so there was some steady background sound coming from the silo area - which was evident during the lakeside wedding ceremony. That said, we'd still be happy to return to the Whitton Malt...

Service here is awesome, staff were very attentive and the food came out in about five minutes. The building and landscaping is impressive Very tall open space, big chandeliers hanging from the roof, nice use of wood and incorporates the Aussie / of the land look well with the wine barrels and use of native flora. Outside there is a great big pond, a secret waterfall cave and a golf game which, these things were pleasant to walk around post meal - the outside was definitely the highlight for me. The food left a bit to be desired, chips were awesome and crunchy, the pulled pork burger was very average and bland tasting, just pulled and onion in a brioche, the nachoes were totally run of the mill - nachoes, avo, sour cream, corn and salsa... Nothing exciting. There is a nice gift shop inside with some good quality stuff.. baby things, "gentlemen's" things and "artsy / enjoys the finer things ladies " things. This is probably a place you bring the kids to to see something cool and out of town or you bring he extended family to for a celebration, maybe the footy team. It's a bit of the same vibe you would get at an ex-servicemens club but much nicer looking and it wants to be alot posher than an ex servicemen's club but if it wants to get there the food needs to be way better.
