Poor service, disappointing menu and not so good beer. Been there today. Referred by the Cottages where we are staying we planned our visit. We are traveling with another family so, 4 adults and 5 kids (2 under 2 yo).
First thing we noticed was the parking lot, different than everywhere we've been visiting in Margaret River, there were not a single tree to offer some shade. Not big deal, but when visiting touristic place we are looking for the best we can have.
Second disappointment was that the playground (main reason we decided to come here) was under maintenance. No notice about it online.
We got a table outside, under the shaded varanda, but there was a lot of flies... too many, so, we decided to move to the tables on the grass, near the river, where there was a breeze, thus, less flies. However, the wind stopped and it started getting hot, we then moved indoors (since the playground was closed anyways)... we have informed the bar about our moves and one of the waiters, rudely, told us off "you've already moved twice and you cannot be moving like this" going away, without any manner or gentleness. He didn't care to ask the reason we were moving or even to listen if we were to apologise for been moving.
The menu is very simple. Most of the options are for sharing or burgers. We were thinking that it would have proper meals as options. My kids love Mac & Cheese, and they didn't want to eat what was served. I had tapas and it was okay, but nothing special. The burger that my husband had was okay too. Chips were a bit salty. My friends described their pizza as "boiled". And the tasting paddle wasn't good either. The feijoa & hibiscus option was horrible. After the treatment we received from that waiter, we didn't feel comfortable to approach anyone to give any feedback. The place looks gorgeous, has a good atmosphere.
You need to resolve the flies problem (your big fans will keep them away - maybe keep them on next time).
I do understand that there is a labour shortage at the moment, but your waiter's attitude was bad.
And food... you have a simple menu, that's okay. Then make the best out of your simple. So...
Read moreMy fiancé and I were so excited to explore Cheeky Monkey Brewing Co as we have heard many good things. Unfortunately, the customer service we received was average at best. From a customers point of view- no one greeted us at the door or showed us where we could sit comfortably with our dog and order food or drinks. We brought our dog along as the pub stated it was dog friendly, but found we were constantly harassed by the “owners dogs“. We were trying to enjoy a peaceful meal however, the three legged dog and young labrador pup constantly harassed and barked at our dog who was laying down. It got to the point where the three legged dog was snarling aggressively which was distressing to our dog and the most disappointing thing was that the staff on looking did nothing. Another family who were dining behind us with young children, were clearly distressed and nervous around dogs. The children were constantly saying they were scared whilst the dogs jumped up at their table and run around them, yet the staff observed and did nothing. My fiancé went to order another drink at the bar and asked the person if the other dogs were friendly as one was snarling aggressively and the guy laughed and said “yes” not even addressing the concerns she had. We then chose to leave as we felt very uncomfortable, yet the dogs continued to follow us out the door and into the car park barking at us and distressing our dog. As much as we were so excited to attend this venue, we were left so disappointed and would not recommend this as a dog or child friendly venue. Other breweries like Wild Hop, Beer Farm & Rocky Ridge are much...
Read morebeautiful setting and friendly staff, unfortunately it's let down a bit by the bar...limited selection and restrictive on choices for tasting paddles, can't/won't sell certain beers in growlers for reasons that remain a mystery. even takeaway cans there's very little on offer, and 15 minutes away in bottleshops they have more of the brewerys range available 🤷🏼♂️. shame because the place is beautiful. few tweaks to the food menu and quality, and the bar, and this could be up there with the best brew pubs in the area.
just a quick edit based on owners response.
with regards to growlers and limited release, if that's your rule I would recommend putting that info on display online and in the bar, a lot of people are designated drivers to your venue so wouldn't have a chance to try the beers without taking them home, you're literally stopping people buying your beer (never experienced this before anywhere else), your rules are your rules but I would question the sense that rule makes and maybe reconsider.
The takeaway fridge didn't have 20 different options on the two times we've visted. nowhere near 20.
And when we visited recently there was 1 (out of 4) of your hard seltzers available (on tap and in the fridge), hardly celebrating your range...yet in nearby bottleshops there's a larger selection. Not trying to be harsh, just honest.
You're not making the most of some amazing potential. Really hope you...
