I booked a table over a month in advance. When I booked over the phone I explained that we are attending for my wife's birthday, and that she has quite a few allergies and listed them out. Just to be safe, I sent an email to the staff to confirm our booking, and at the same time confirmed that my wife has allergies and we are attending for her birthday, I recieved a response that this would be fine. We arrived on the night and we were kindly seated and presented our menus. We then assumed that a chef or waiter would come out to explain what my wife can and can't eat based on her allergies.
We waited, and nothing happened, so I called the waiter over and asked him about the allergies and he had no knowledge of this and there was no note on our booking. He spoke to who I assume was his manager, and he came over to apologise that they were not aware of this....
So we tried to continue, and started asking what is in the menu items, but the waiter just listed the ingredients that are on the menu, not the specifics such as garlic, onion, or types of vegetables. When I asked what type of vegetables were in a particular dish he said "just a bunch of different vegetables". So we decided not to risk it because this was already very difficult and complicated.
We therefore locked on 1 very safe menu item, the scallops, so we ordered that for her.... Which were just some scallops cooked in butter. They were delicious and cooked excellently, but overall I felt bad that this was the result for my wife's birthday that I planned and my wife was not impressed.
When dealing with allergies this can have serious impacts and I believe that Lamonts should take this type of stuff much more serious considering the type of restaurant you present yourself as.

Read moreIt was our first visit at this restaurant on a Monday evening- most restaurants are closed on Mon/Tues in Yallingup it seems. We were greeted and seated on arrival in a quick, welcoming manner. The red wines we ordered were beautiful and the food was good... until I looked up across the table to see my partner struggling to chew what I presumed was his lamb cutlet. We found a sharp piece of plastic in the food, the size of a fingernail. We set this aside and when a waiter asked us how our food was, we replied, “It’s been nice... except for this piece of PLASTIC!” The waiter responded, “I’m sorry about that...”, with little remorse, and then proceeded to ask if we wanted the DESSERT menu...🙉?! We politely said no and he quickly grabbed our plates and ran to the kitchen. We presumed he would be back. He did come back... past our table 20 times serving other people and ignoring our existence until we paid our bill.
Another waiter (presumably a manager out of the normal ‘uniform’) quickly printed our receipt and showed us, “here, ok?” I felt so embarrassed. I presumed he would ask us how our meal had been. Alas, he did not. I took a copy of the receipt in the hopes that we may get some kind of compensation for the ignorant way that they had handled this. I would have thought that paying a decent price of $44(ish) dollars for three lamb cutlets, greens (and a side of plastic) would have come with a free moment of...
Read moreMy little family have been having an amazing holiday, staying at Smiths beach resort and were excited for dinner. Unfortunately I was immediately disappointed when the food was placed on the table. I ordered the “Lamb T- Bone/Romesco/broad beans” for a cheap cut of meat I was expecting it to be cooked exceptionally, melting in your mouth but it was quite the opposite. It was overcooked, tough and super hard to cut. So for $46.50 I received 3 tiny pieces of lamb, a small spoonful of broad beans, a lemon wedge and a tomato based sauce (Romesco) under the lamb. The staff never came over to the table to check if we were happy with the meal, and once we were finished they just came and started to remove the plates without saying a word - never asking how it was. Once I expressed my opinions that the meal was poor quality and extremely over priced ”Giovanni”argued that it wasn’t just a tomato sauce. He did end up discounting the lamb to $39 but with no apology or care.
We were planning on going for breakfast, we definitely won’t be now.
Unfortunately Lamont’s is no reflection on Smiths Beach Resort, they have...
