My wife and I drove to Yass today to have lunch at the Yass Valley Bakery. The advertising we had seen called the place a restaurant and bakery. We wanted to taste their gluten free items because I am coeliac. We couldn't sit inside unless we bought something from the place who own the tables. We had to sit outside with our 2 gluten free pies (one with sauce) that cost us $15.30. The most expensive pies I have ever bought. Mine was a pepper steak. I have never had pepper steak without taste before - this was a new experience. We sat on outdoor furniture just in the shade which hadn't been wiped down for a while - full of crumbs and even dried meat.

Read moreBoth my partner and I had a chunky beef pie and cream filled apple turnover, both absolutely delicious. The pie was very flavoursome and flakey pastry on top, the Apple turnover has the best tasting apple filling I've had in a long time and the generous mock cream filling topped it off. We were both covered in icing sugar and bits of pastry but hell was it worth it. We went to the park under the bridge to enjoy them. I make the effort to get off the highway to visit this place because it has a great pepper pie. In fact on a scale of -4 to 13, I rate them a 10, which is the highest rating I've ever given.
