Thinking back to the experience surrounding why I had to stay here gives me anxiety... I don't exactly know why, but for whatever reason, we found ourselves rushing from Salzburg to Innsbruck one ugly rainy fall night in October and after being denied by literally every hotel we could find in Kufstein (unbelievable really!) we decided to post up at this road side hotel since we were simply too exhausted to make it Innsbruck that night... we had driven from Vienna and stopped to Salzburg for a few unlucky hours before deciding to go further due to the horrible weather. Anyways, I didn't have high hopes for this hotel due to it being right on the highway, but I was very surprised, because here we actually had the best room from our entire two month trip- and we stayed at countless other hotels all over Europe, many costing much more. I was surprised at how large and comfortable and well-equipped the room was- really excellent actually. The downstairs gift shop/convenience store and restaurant/buffer were also very well equipped. The place is extremely 70's looking- not necessarily in a bad way, but just thought I'd mention it. In fact, the inside of the hotel looks like something you'd see in an old Bond film. The only real downside to our experience here was that it was actually quite expensive for being a motorway hotel... I think it cost us close to $200 Canadian! Again, the room was massive and very comfortable, but just considering the location it seemed like a...
Read moreWe traveled for eleven days through five countries. In our way to Munich, our travel Director recommended a lot of this place. We was a group of forty, some of them went to the gas station restaurant and we went to thus place in a separate groups for lunch. In our group we was eight and after some attempts we found a table in the back area, next to game children's are. There was some waitress passing near to us, but we wait for around fifteen minutes and any waitress came to ask to us for our order, we intented to ask some one, but he was very rude and said that we have to wait. We only forty-five minutes. In this time we only had twenty five. Some one recommended to take a salad bar. We did that, and finally one waitress came to us take a note of our salad plates that four was small and four was big. We never see the salad bar prices, but we was hungry. The waitress gave to us a plastic card like a credit card to pay. We had a few minutes to take our bus group. When we paid we discocered that the charges was for eight big salad. We was in sock but the cashier was unfriendly and we don't have time to clarify with the waitress. The place is in a wonderful location, you have a beautiful mountain view, the dessert looks delicious, the salad and dressing was good, but is a very crowd place, the services is very poor. We paid around 300 euros for eight salads. This was...
Read moreWe were looking for a rest and maybe a roadside snack and pulled off here to find what looked like a large hotel. Our mistake?||We persisted and entered the main doors by running the gauntlet of those benighted folks who must smoke right by the outside door and thus inflect their exhaust on everyone else.||Inside was confusing as we could not find our way to where they sold food. We saw what looked like a salad bar but no indication as how to approach this.||So we took some salad to an empty table. we then met a waiter who explained we should have been seated first and then decide what to eat and drink. We can read most languages so why not put up signs saying this OR meet guests as they enter?||No matter we got a drink and some rolls to go with our Salads.||All was Ok although the price seemed steep at €31 for two people.||Lesson learned. Stick to Autobahn Restplatz or Village Inns.||Shame really as it...
