Thurntaler Rast - Almgasthaus & Ferienwohnungen — Restaurant in Außervillgraten

Honesty is one of the most important criteria when one is a restaurant and guesthouse I was very happy to discover Austria, the beautiful land and many friendly people. HOWEVER, as I expect honesty from other, I also must BE honest with you all on who are reading these lines that I write not from happy heart:( As guest of a nearby area and to be friendly with the locals, we opted for getting dinner two times, out of or 5 days here, to this local restaurant Thurntaler Rast. As guests, they suggested to record expenses to review only on last day. And on a quick check out, presented us this associated bill to a fast pay.. till there our trust was complete but what a surprise when we verified the various entries in the bill. IT was obscure and numerous entries with an exaggerated price we decided to get back to the restaurants to ask for clarity UNFORTUNATELY, this clarity & honesty was not present! LETS get a quick review: Ice cream 2 balls & crema was 12€ each whereas the daily menu, disappear next day, it was 4€ For 5 days we ordered 7 breads for the breakfast. But strangely for the same numbers of items, the price is different everyday... does the price of petrol impacts the bakery? Furthermore, we were here 6 mornings, charged each clearly (as Brot) AND they charge strange complimentary (7 semmel 4.9€, 5 kornspitz 6.5€) bread order which we never received Special , and by the way delicious, ice cream (Hesse Liebe) is less expensive if You order the normal Size -5€ than the kids small half version which is MORE expensive with 5.4€! Incredibile particularly when the weater suggests you to take smaller if for kids THEY SAY WATER is free and then they charge you 3.3€ for a liter !! and not for san pellegrino but TAP water from the free mountain's !! Last but not least: I was really missing a real bloody streak

We simply asked if it was possible, and they friendly said, 'we will see'. COOL at first but then the surprise was horrible BLOODY STEAK, eveyone in Europe knows whats a bloody steak, and if not just type Google image JUST see what I was served, and as I was not willing to complain, I forced myself to not complain and to refuse this plate

I REQUESTED STEAK, I had a strange stringy meat for which I even asked if it was really beef and not chicken...furthermore , bloody mean liquid blood and RED meat inside! IT was dry and overcooked! Fortunatly, the kids had some fruit jam That I could use to givev1t least some taste to this 'neutral meat' I have nevertheless to admit that with the few vegetables, the color of the plate was better and nicely presented If the story ended here I could just says 'OK it s just a bad experience and restaurant can serve you bad meal' BUT this was another story when we lately discovered the p4iceof 40€!! !Yes you read well 40€ for a 200g max probably old cow piece I HAVE NO ISSUE TO PAY MUCH FOR A STEAK, but meal quality and order type must be at the level of the price Recently I went to a steak gouse ordered a matured 6 months old 450g tomahawk... delicious, maybe expensive 35 € but definitely worth it VS this Thurntaler Scam!

I WRITE THESE Lines just to expose the fact, and express my right of opinion where I conclude with HONESTY is the most important keyword to remember THE restaurant owner Is not Honnest and even added more confusing answers such as the price is not on the cassa it depends on who serves you the half ice cream is more extensive that the full just because it it like this the water is free is served by the employee but not by the restaurant owner the meat was a real Beaf heavy piece...and worth the price SO OUR advise is simple, enjoy Austria but if you ever go dinner to Thurntaler Rast restaurant thinks twice! Unless you definitely accept to be scammed and to be robbed from the House Nb you understood that Honesty Is important to us, I d like to add that the only valuable return from the owner was to accept the fact that paying 3 ice cream 3x12€ instead of 3x4€ was a error AND for this and ONLY thus he was Honnest to...

Wir waren heute ein zweites Mal hier während unseres Urlaubs essen, da nicht nur die Kinder sowohl den Kaiserschmarrn als auch meine Rippchen beim letzten Mal extrem lecker fanden. Heute gab es sensationelle Schlipfkrapfen und ein reichhaltiges, leckeres Urban-Brettl und zum Nachtisch natürlich den Kaiserschmarrn, der so fluffig und locker ist wie selten. Echte Meisterqualität. Was soll man sagen auch heute waren wir wieder super zufrieden. Nicht nur das Essen, sondern auch der Service, das nette Personal beziehungsweise die Familie, und auch die Lokalität bekommen wieder fünf Sterne plus. Ich würde sagen, das beste Restaurant hier weit und breit, sicher zwischen Toblach und Lienz, das war unser Radius. Hoffentlich gibt es den Alm-Gasthof noch sehr, sehr lange, so dass wir auch in Zukunft bei unseren Urlauben hier essen können vielleicht sogar übernachten.

Ich kann jedem nur empfehlen den Weg auf sich zu nehmen, die Lokation, das Essen und die Aussicht sind es wert. (Entweder über die Silianer Seilbahn mit 30min Marschzeit oder mit dem Auto über Außervillgraten, Achtung scharfe Linkskurvige Abfahrt...
