Weissenbachwirt — Restaurant in Bad Goisern am Hallstättersee

My review may be a bit harsh as the restaurant may be more suitable for others than it was for us.

We came here as we had seen pictures on previous reviews of the food we wanted to eat. We couldn't order what we wanted as the menu is very small, and there is a chalk board with all the dishes which are still available. Once they are gone, they are gone, there's only a very limited availability of each dish per night. We didn't know this and we had already ordered drinks. We decided not to order food, and we asked for pay for the drinks. Two large coca-cola's (500ml) cost us €10! Which was more than we have paid at other restaurants. They also do not accept card payments, they only accept cash.

The waiter was very good at speaking English to us and explained very clearly information about the one dish they had left which was still available to order, but I think he was the only one who could speak English. Although it was much appreciated as I don't speak a word of German, so I must thank him for that!

We couldn’t love this restaurant enough!! To start the food was delightful, the person that attended us which I assumed was the owner was very nice and attentive. Cakes were so delicious and the soup? I couldn’t had enough! Fresh apple juice did not disappoint. The place was cozy and beautiful. I have to mention that you need to pay with cash so make sure to have some before walking in. Food is fresh from the day and prices are pretty good. Plenty of parking and kid friendly! 12/10 Absolutely recommend. We found this in maps, quite late and lost, and it was the perfect choice. The owner did everything he could, above and beyond, to help us understand the menu and serve us exactly what we wanted.
