Hotel Gasthof Walcher — Restaurant in Dorfgastein

I can't wait to share what a great experience we had here!

We were on a biking trip and looked originally for a place to stay in Dorfgastein, but weren't able to find one that fit us. Consequently, we chose this place as they have not only rooms, but a restaurant as well. We knew we wanted to have dinner at the end of our day's ride so it was a good choice.

Unfortunately, we overestimated how much time we needed to get here and finally arrived at 20:30. We asked for a late check-in at 20:00, but we were late for that. After we arrived, we were shown to the bike storage room which is very secure and asked if they had any food available, but were told that the restaurant closed 20:15.

However, judging by our forlorn appearances, we were told to hold on and see if they could put something together. We were blown away. They prepared us a mixed salad and an amazing dish of mushrooms (Eierschwammerl) in sauce, dumplings (Knödel) and cream (Schlagobers). And they also had beer as well! Such amazing hospitality and service.

The room was very comfortable and cozy. The only thing to watch out for us that the shower can overflow and seep out under the shower door if you are not careful.

Breakfast was continental and was good.

Overall, very nice people working there and they really took care of us and and very accommodating to our situation....
