Berggasthof Sattelbauer — Restaurant in Flachau

Booked a reservation for 4 people, on arrival we stood in the restraunt for 20 minutes waiting for our table, we ended up sat on benches at a table pushed up against a closed door with no light. (We understand restraunts can get busy) when our food arrived we realised that there was something missing off 2 of the 4 dishes and the food was in the opinion of our guest that is a professional chef, below par of everywhere else he had visited in flachau last week including chalet food.

The sledding was a step in the right direction, but be aware, when it advertises "flood lit" it is less than 10 spot lights spread through a forest for 2.6km, so we recommend taking a torch as much of it is pitch black, this doesn't spoil it by any means but do be aware.

Now, following our poor dining exprience, my partner and I are worried about sending guests for food as we have between 20 and 26 staff at a time, and if a restraunt can't book or cook for a group of 4, i'm not putting 20+ guests through the exprience, as a fun activity we called sattelbauer to ask politely if we could pay and rent 22 sleds for our guests, this appaulingly was answered by a rude, abusive answer to a basic question and my partner was hung up on.

In conclusion; bad booking experience (twice) bad front of house experience bad food experience beyond bad customer service experience (twice)

Do you want the true authentic, Austrian, cabin in the woods fine dining experience? On a hill far away from town and society, being fully present with mind and soul where you can completely relax and enjoy the people you go with, the atmosphere and lovely food? Sattelbauer is the place! Absolutely, UTTERLY amazing food, service, atmosphere and overall experience! The restaurant is decored perfectly in a fitting way with what was described above - a true nice cabin in the woods in the snow with wood worlds, metals, and a warm and cozy temperature and vibe. The servers are dressed nicely in fitting clothing matching the aeathetic, are fast, efficient, and really kind and nice. The owner makes himself visible and present as well swerving between the tables making sure everyone is happy and satisfied as well, he even gave our group a round of home made honey and zirben shots on the house after paying too which was top class service. And the food was just pure professional 5/5 top top class. Packed with flavor and love. The textures were on point and it all just worked well, it was also beautifully plated and presented and it filled you up the brim. The kartoffelstrudel and kaspressknödel we ordered are on of the better restaurant vegetarian dishes I have had in a long while, pure art! Second time here and its a great restaurant. Very special. Why? on top of a mountain with Plachue view. Recomend to arrive at 18:30 and have a table out looking on the valey and watch the sunset with a glass of beer good local food. The soup are amazing! If you eat pork then you have more varaity.
