Had an overnight stay at this gasthof. It definitely looks much better in pictures than live. I booked this to cut a longer drive to Vienna into half....thinking we would get a peaceful, beautiful night by Donau, boy was I wrong! Beware, this gasthof is completely in the middle of an extremely busy over crossing bridge, the traffic is constant and extremely noisy as cars and lots of motorbikes drive through a tunnel right by the hotel, and it is just as they accelerate after a curve.......super noisy! The view from the hotel is beautiful as it is right next Donau. The dinner we had served at the balcony of the restaurant was tasty and one waitress was super nice and helpful but that was all of our positives....the rest was downright lacking or even terrible. Staff, and this is a family owned gasthof seemed like they couldn't care less if we had a good stay, they weren't particularly friendly nor serviceminded. We came from a long trip all through Austria and have met nothing but super nice and friendly service on our entire trip till this place. The second you step into this place get ready to be met by an unbearable smell of cigarette smoke.......it smells everywhere inside. The front part of the restaurant is smoking allowed.......and you can't avoid this part, cause you have to check in right in the middle of the smoking section by a small desk serving as the reception. Also, and that is almost worse, your breakfast is served (in the non smoking section) which is right next to the smoking part of the restaurant, not divided by anything but an open doorway! It was completely gross. Breakfast was lacking, and compared to the dinner which was tasty it left a lot to be desired. I do realize that indoor smoking is allowed in Austria, but I would've never thought that I'd be in a situation where I couldn't get away from it and at least eat in a non smoking environment. Even though smoking isn't allowed in the rooms, there are ashtrays on the balcony and the stench of smoke spreads throughout the hotel. This gasthof is in no way meant for disabled people. There are ton of stairs and no lifts anywhere. The rooms are roomy enough and they do have a nice sized balcony. But they are in no way cozy or well decorated. The walls are empty and the room was really worn and offered no nice homey feeling. There is a tiny TV which I never turned on as the remote was so dirty and gross I didn't want to touch it. The bathroom was clean but got so hot and muggy without any good ventilation. The beds were terrible, sleep quality equals zero! They are super noisy when you turn over and everything from bedding to mattress seemed like the lowest quality you can find. Between the traffic noise adding a railroad with trains through the night and the awful bed we hardly got any sleep at all. Sad to say, we couldn't wait to leave the next morning.
