If you want to explore the taste of the typical local cuisine at reasonable prices, offered with an outstanding service – this is your place! Starting with the favourable central location of the gasthaus, the restaurant welcomes you with a warm and cosy atmosphere and incredibly attentive service, including allowance of dogs. During our 6-day stay in the area, we visited the restaurant twice, because it is attractive not only with the relaxed and comfortable interior, but also with the taste of the home-cooked meals. The products used are primarily from local producers, the food is fresh and very delicious. The menu list is not long, but balances a very good variety between vegetarian and meat dishes. They also offer a menu in English, which is a very big advantage. The music, which happened to be of our taste, made the experience with this restaurant complete and fully delightful. I would distinguish three must try dishes with an unforgettable taste: the wildleberspätzlesuppe mit rinderkraftbruhe, käsknöpfle and the fantastic brownie with vanilla ice! In a small town like Hittisau, this place is a gem! The gasthaus offers typical local cuisine, which is incredibly tasty! For example, what made an impression were the kartoffelsalat and beef stew dish; very traditional. But one thing to distinguish, is the chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream on top; this dessert was incredibly luscious and I’d say that one can’t leave before trying it. Next to the great food experience, the staff was super nice and helpful to us; many thanks to your hospitality! Additionally, they offer menus in English too, which is a great advantage. Lastly, the atmosphere was enjoyable: the gasthaus has an old and traditional design, fostering feelings of authenticity and warmth. Combined with the hospitality of the staff, one definitely feels in another time period. Wir sind den Wasserweg in Hittisau gelaufen und kamen am Nachmittag wieder zurück in das Dörfchen. Wir sind direkt am Goldenen Adler vorbei gegangen und haben gesehen das im schattigen Garten noch ein Tischchen frei war. Da wir Hunger hatten nahmen wir Platz. Bedient wurden wir die ganze Zeit von der wirklich netten, freundlichen und sehr aufmerksamen Service Crew. Die Speisekarte legte Wert auf die österreichischen Küchen Klassiker. Wir entschieden uns für die Tages Empfehlung. Gesottener Rindertafelspitz mit Kartoffeln, Gemüsen und Apfelkren. Vorweg nahmen wir eine Frittaten Suppe zum teilen. Eine schöne,kräftige Fleischbrühe mit leckerer Flädleeinlage. Der Tafelspitz war butterzart gekocht, würzig im Geschmack und der Apfelkren passte wunderbar dazu. Dazu bei dem warmen Sommertag ein Fläschchen Sauvignon von Hack und Gebell aus der Steiermark.
