The place is very nice. But the prices are outrageously high and bear no relation to the quality for food and drinks. The alpine hut can be reached directly and easily via a normal forest path. Additional costs are therefore not justifed, we have seen other places where special equiment to carry up material is required. Amazing little gem of a place. All locally sourced ingredients, home-made soups, cordials, lentils stews and deer broth soup. Top class, and incredible views with outdoor and indoor tables, and lovely atmosphere. Would recommend taking the cable car up from Semmering and walking a gentle uphill along the ridge to the peak at Sonnwendstein where this cafe is perched on the very top. Will go back. We had lunch in the cute little hut. The prices are actually fine - contrary to what other reviewers say we found them okay and comparable to Vienna. The waiting time and service was ridiculous though. More than 1h for food that just needs to be taken out of a pot, no service around, had to wait another 15min just to be able to pay. We were not the only ones visibly annoyed. We'll spend our money...
