Köglerhof — Restaurant in Gramastetten

This was a cider-tasting excursion from Linz. A truly amazing down-to-earth experience. We were a small group of 15 and had a very personalized experience. The tour started in the farmhouse courtyard where our host (and the farm’s owners...) Klaus, explained the history of the farm and his mission to bring cider-making and natural farming to a new generation. Klaus was so enthusiastic about his family’s work and life that it was a joy to listen to him no matter what he was talking about. We then moved into the modern restaurant for a cider tasting and lunch. We were given 5 different hard ciders to try (a variety of apple only, pear only, mixed, and sparkling). As they were being poured Klaus explained the history of Austrian cider making and provided us with tasting notes to enhance our experience. As the sparkling cider was being poured our “snack” was served. It was a full lunch and EVERYTHING was from the farm. There were three different types of house-cured pork / ham, one very much like a fine Italian prosciutto; a green salad; potato salad (ask any Austrian about their love of potatoes); and a few relishes / garnishes like freshly dug and grated horseradish. All of this was served on individual cutting boards with fresh from the oven bread. We finished with a sweet roll (also warm from the oven) and more sparkling cider. We learned so much about Austrian farm life and culture in these 2 hours. The passion our hosts and their background before taking on the cider farm was very facinating. Well worth the time coming out to visit...

Wir waren am 15.07.2021 spazieren und entschlossen uns spontan beim Köglerhof einzukehren (Essen, Trinken). Beim Betreten des Lokals wurden wir gefragt ob wir reserviert hätten. Wir verneinten und fragten ob wir trotzdem was Essen und Trinken können, da offensichtlich nicht alle Plätze reserviert waren. Darauf wurde uns mitgeteilt das es nichts zu Essen gibt da das Essen abgezählt ist (nehme an schlecht formuliert und meinte es gibt nur für Reservierungen ein Essen). Getränke können wir sehrwohl konsumieren. Auf unsere Nachfrage ob eventuell ein Jause zu bekommen wäre wurde uns mittgeteilt dies sei nicht möglich da wir nicht reserviert hätten. Die Küche richtet sich nach Reservierungen. Ich frage mich nur wie das funktioniert? Muß ich bei der Reservierung schon meinen Speiseplan bekannt geben? Oder ist die Küche wirklich so unflexibel? Als wir schon einige Zeit bei leeren Gläser saßen, teilten wir Hr. Kögler mit das wir zahlen möchten. Er kam dann leider nicht mehr obwohl er die Nachbartische bediente. Nach einiger Zeit kam ein Kellner, fragte ob wir noch was trinken möchten. Wir verneinten und bezahlten. Was mich wundert zu Zeiten von Corona wurden wir nicht einmal nach den 3G gefragt. Wir mussten uns auch nicht Registrieren.

Leider kein Lokal zur Weiterempfehlung da sehr unflexibel und nicht...
