Das Hodzic Cafe & Restaurant — Restaurant in Graz

Well... What a wonderful evening!! Staying across the street at the NED Hotel and the wonderful young lady at our front desk recommended this amazing 🤩 restaurant.... We were late arriving and the owner, Ilham, told us the grill was cleaned BUT he didn't turn us away... He spoke to his chef and they decided to make us a delicious meal of white fish, roasted vegetables and a delicious sauce.... How very gracious!! The food was not only delicious, but the company was as well. We spent several hours chatting with Ilham, Elif and Adin while they were all working very hard. Excellent service! Then for dessert.....a honey cake that takes 50 hours to make!! Heavenly is how I describe it! Adin explained how traditional Bosnian coffee is made and Ilham showed us the family coffee bean grinder passed down through the generations. Can't say enough good things about this restaurant....I highly recommend it! We are only here for a few days but we will go back for more delicious coffee and honey cake. What a welcoming place... Stop in when in Graz.... Or better yet, make a special trip to Graz just to give it a try. You won't be...

As someone who has grown up eating cevapi on a weekly basis, I must say that the pricing here feels enormously high for what is offered.

While a restaurant has the right to set its prices, if higher prices are justified by an emphasis on quality, that quality should be evident.

Unfortunately, the cevapi were tasteless, the kajmak did not resemble what we typically call kajmak in Bosnia, and the portions were quite small, more akin to what one might find in a kindergarten meal. Additionally, the salad was very disappointing – just one small slice of tomato and several slices of onion. Moreover, four people were seated at a table meant for two, which was quite uncomfortable.

Although I am not familiar with other restaurants in Graz, I would recommend trying somewhere else. Compared to well-known Balkan cevapi restaurants in Vienna like Galaxie, Marengo, and XxXL, this establishment's offerings do not justify the cost at all. 3,5 Sterne hätte ich vergeben, aber da das nicht geht und sie echt lieb sind, habe ich aufgerundet.

Wir hatten hauptsächlich das Iftar Menü. Das war leider enttäuschend.. Salat bestand nur aus ein paar Salatblättern.. Die Hauptspeise mit Huhn war ein sehr dünnes Schnitzel; Portion klein. Die Nachspeise war ebenso klein und etwas, das man sehr kostengünstig herstellen kann. Also diese Kombination als Menü für 30€ lohnt sich eigentlich nicht.

Ich hatte kein Menü; als Hauptspeise Cevape in Kajmak. Mir hat es sehr gut geschmeckt. Der Kaffee war außerdem auch ganz gut.

Service.. hmm schwierig. Es war aber Iftar Zeit und da muss man bedenken, dass mehr los ist. Sie waren etwas vergesslich und unaufmerksam, aber haben sich immer entschuldigt und waren nett und bemüht.

Das Restaurant ist wirklich SEHR schön; mir gefällt das Design voll gut. Allerdings empfanden wir den Tisch und unsere Plätze als etwas beengend. Aber ja, damit muss man sich arrangieren.. ist irgendwo anders auch so.

Wir hatten einen Parkplatz vom Haus.. das war definitiv ein Pluspunkt.

Fazit: Da gibt es definitiv Spielraum nach oben bezüglich Verbesserungen. Da müssen die Besitzer auch Kritik annehmen können. Ich meine es jedenfalls nicht böse und wünsche ihnen alles Gute und dass ihr Restaurant noch besser läuft!

Schade, dass ich erst im Nachhinein zu Hause auf einem Bild gesehen habe, dass sie recht coole alkoholfreie Getränke gehabt hätten.. da hätte ich bestimmt was probiert, wenn ich die Karte dazu...
