Kronenwirt — Restaurant in Gurk

Kronenwirt Gasthof is a superb hotel located in a very quiet place in the nice city of Gurk. It's right in front of the Cathedral of the Assumption on the other side of the road. The building is beautiful. It's a typical Austrian construction of old times, very solid, sound proof and eye catching. On the right hand side of the building looking at the main façade there is the hotel parking and a small garden as well as the hotel terrace which is under cover and where it's very pleasant to sit for a while and have something to drink. Inside it's also very nice and decorated with much taste; in the restaurant, for instance, there are nice tables, and chairs and a rich pageantry of Austrian motifs. Some lamps are also beautiful and the paintings on the room doors are indeed original.||The room I was allocated was very comfortable, the only deficiency being that concerning the lack of a table at which one could sit and write some post cards or anything else. The bed is good and therefore its mattress has the right hardness to assure a good sleep and an adequate rest. From the room windows it's possible to enjoy a nice view over the terrace and the entrance to the parking. During the day it's very well lit up with daylight.||The breakfast is good. Though there isn't much variety all the food available is of a very good quality. The stated meal is served at the hotel restaurant. The atmosphere in there couldn't be better; apart from the decoration whose taste, attractiveness and charm are outstanding, the fact that there is no music makes the moments spent there be of a great pleasure. It's really gorgeous to have a good meal in such a peaceful atmosphere without being disturbed by a noise which one doesn't wish to hear.||Both the manageress and all the staff members are very kind and helpful. Especially Victoria's readiness to help the customers is outstanding. She could be considered as the spine of the hotel, the one playing the crucial role in the hotel business development, thus standing for more that 50 % of its goodwill. Victoria is a lovely serious lady who helped me a lot and to whom I'll always be grateful.||Kronenwirt Gasthof is therefore a fabulous hotel, certainly the best in Gurk, and consequently anyone wishing to assure one of the most important requirements contributing to make him enjoy his stay in Gurk and that it becomes as pleasant as possible should book at the...

The Kronenwirt Gasthof is a good hotel located in a quiet part of the nice city of Gurk, though several flaws which can be ascribable to some members of the personnel lessen its intrinsic worth.||I had already stayed there in July 2019 and I found it fabulous. I couldn't have a better impression that time. None the less, that I got on the occasion of my last stay in July 2021 wasn't unfortunately so good. The manageress is an elderly lady who looks like an officer of the SS. She seems to be everywhere at the premises, deadly serious and staring at the customers. At least, she did it to me, what was rather unpleasant. Her daughter is apparently the manageress's assistant though in fact, she seems to be in charge of most of the managerial duties. She also works at the kitchen. She is quite helpful but not very kind. The kindest, most helpful and friendly as well as charming person working at that hotel the first time I lodged there, Victoria, wasn't unfortunately there this time, and her absence was to be deeply regretted. If one has ever met her, he can't but miss her when, upon returning to that hotel, she isn't there.||The breakfast was neither as good as in my first stay. This last time, for instance, there was no pastry at all, but only bread, cheese, ham and crammed meat apart from, of course, some hot drinks.||The hotel is very well decorated, mainly with typical motifs of the State of Carinthia, which are very nice and special. The bedroom I was allocated however (number 21) was better that that I had the previous time (number 2). At the latter there is no table whereas in that where I slept on the occasion of my second stay in Gurk there is one. That piece of furniture is of course essential to read and write comfortably. In general the room was comfortable, especially the bed, whose mattress is adequate to have a good rest.||By and large, for the aforesaid reasons, my experience in the hotel last year was not as good as it was in 2019. I don't think I'll book that hotel again and I wouldn't recommend...
