Golfclub Gut Altentann — Restaurant in Henndorf am Wallersee

I came with my colleague, who is a member of this club. The course is well-designed and presents some challenges. We chose to walk and carry our own clubs, which can be tiring if you're not fit. The first three holes are the most exhausting as they involve walking uphill. Hole 8 is particularly challenging, with a water hazard in front of the green. I was welcomed with genuine warmth by all the staff; great golf course, the land available for its construction was superbly used by Jack Nicklaus, all bunkers and lakes were well designed and placed along fairways and around greens and they are well maintained. The course is a good challengue. We had dinner in the main restaurant and we really enjoyed the charm and general ambience. We have played with friends there, low handicapers, and must say this was a challange. First 9 have to play conservative way. Difficult to score par from white stones. All waters, bunkers, eng fairways are exactly where you set your drive. Typical for Nicklaus architecture. For the first visit difficult to score below 90.
