LUMBERJACK Bio-Bergrestaurant — Restaurant in Kleinarl

This new (2021) food hall is quite different from the other Hütten with restaurants on the mountain. It's a large building, with very high ceiling, featuring an indoor suspension bridge, even :-O. The ground floor, one large open hall, features different food stands where you can buy various meals. Then you have to go to a different stand to buy your drinks.

You cannot pay with cash, making it kind of troublesome to send you kids one way to buy what they want to eat, whilst you go order what you want in a different stand.

I don't dislike the concept, it's kind of refreshing with something new, and they have made their best to keep the "Alpen-feeling" with a modern touch. They could have improved the concept by allowing you to order and pay from a cell-phone-app / web-page instead of forcing you to go to each of the stands you want to buy something from, order and pay at each individual place then to come back later to pick up your food.

All in all, nice with something new, however, the concept can be improved, and it's not very cosy and pretty expensive.

Therefore, I prefer the more traditional restaurants on the mountain, allowing you to order at the table, get served equally good, or better, food and drinks, most often to a lower price than you have to pay for the same dishes. As you have to run around to different stands, queuing before ordering and paying and then come back to collect your food you don't, even save any time compared with the more traditional restaurants, self service or table service, on...

Canteen atmosphere for upscale prices and really slow. It is ridiculous that you get a beeper for a simple spaghetti Bolognese. Especially if the spaghetti are overcooked and definitely not aldente.

The quality of the spaghetti Bolognese as well as the Kaiserschmarrn was very very average. Just like you get it in any kind of mass self serve restaurant in this ski resort for lower prices.

Other canteen ski restaurant are much faster and efficient. You get your food immediately and pay once. Here you queue five times and pay separately per queue and meal. Won't go there again. Never been that disappointed in a ski restaurant.

Small protions of low quality food for way too expensive prices. You will get better quality for better price anywhere else in Salzburger Land.

Will never vist again and will warn all my local friends.

5 Sterne für perfektes Essen, trotzdem aber ein paar Verbesserungsvorschläge.

Das Gute: Essen Sau gut. Insbesondere Käsekrainer und Kaiserschmarn. Definitiv besser als auf allen anderen Hütten die ich besucht habe. Hier merkt man die Qualität und frische Zubereitung. Klar, ist es dann auch etwas teurer. Portionsgröße passt. Werde gerne wieder kommen. Auch die Auswahl an Speisen ist mal was anderes. Mehr Salate und Frisches. Also ich empfehle jedem, hier mal zu essen. Super lecker!

Da ihr offenbar alle Bewertungen lest und auch beantwortet, hier dennoch ein paar kleine Dinge die mir nicht so gefallen haben als Anregung:

Raumgefühl: Alles ist sauber und modern, aber mir fehlt die Gemütlichkeit. Klar, es ist eine Food Hall. Erinnert mich leider durch die Größe ein bisschen an Kantine/Mensa und damit verbinde ich automatisch Massenabfertigung und Pragmatismus, also nichts, das ich im Urlaub möchte. Es wäre schön wenn man die Tische vielleicht mit Trennelementen etwas separieren könnte, so dass man es etwas gemütlicher und ruhiger hat. Ist mir einfach zu offen alles. Für meinen Geschmack auch etwas zu viel Sichtbeton. Ich mag das urige Hüttenfeeling mit Holz und Deko mehr. Vielleicht kann man da noch ein bisschen was machen. An sich ist es ja ein tolles Gebäude mit viel Licht.

Lange Wege: wer mit der Familie kommt und verschiedene Gerichte bestellt, muss mehrere Stände abklappern. Bei uns war durch die frische Zubereitung Wartezeit nötig (hatten dafür die Buzzer). Insgesamt bin ich dann sehr viel rumgelaufen. Mit Skischuhen ein bisschen nervig. Ich denke es wäre für den Gast angenehmer, wenn auf Bedienung umgestellt wird. Die Foodstände kann es ja weiterhin geben, aber statt dem Buzzer, könnte man nach dem Tisch fragen und es den Leuten dann bringen. Oder man nimmt auch gleich die Bestellung per Bedienung auf und die Foodstände arbeiten dann „im Hintergrund“. Ich würde es so bevorzugen und wäre auch bereit einen kleinen Aufschlag für die zusätzlichen Personalkosten zu zahlen.

Zahlung: Bargeld loswerden ist umständlich und nur über eine spezielle Karte möglich. Ich finde es super, dass man hygienisch arbeitet und die Köche kein Bargeld anfassen, ich nehme aber zum Ski fahren gerne nur ein paar Scheine mit, aus Angst meine EC Karte zu verlieren. Wie wäre es mit diesen kleinen Automaten die es für Bargeldzahlung gibt. Hat bei uns mittlerweile sogar der Bäcker. Dann wäre alles hygienisch und Bargeldzahlung möglich.
