The first impression of the HoferStubn during daylight is OK thanks to bright paint. Unfortunately, we arrived arrived at night within the shoulder season. That made finding it rather difficulty as we were the only guests in the hotel and there were no lights, except on a construction vehicle. Signs indicated the facility was closed, but we were obviously expected as the vehicle operator was waiting for us. We met as we arrived at the darkened building for the second time (around 7 PM). ||We chose the hotel because it had a restaurant, swimming pool and a spa. The restaurant was closed and we spent most of the next hour looking for a place to eat. That left us no time to use the other facilities.||The hotel had a floor plan that reminded me of a rabbit warren. The lower interior halls reminded me of a bomb shelter I had recently visited. Our room was large, but furnished with a cheap and shabby grade of furniture. Toiletries were limited and of low quality. We had 4 towels, each of a different size, each smelling badly and none that would qualify as a bath towel. The room was warm and thankfully quiet. The hotel is rural.||The breakfast is among the worst we have had in any German-speaking land. The variety was limited. (Of course, we were the only guests.) The breakfast room was large, but the self-serve area was ill conceived and four people would constitute a crowd. The quality of the meats and baked goods were below average.||The price for our room was 101€ per night - the same price charged by a top rated international hotel chain at its facility in the center of Innsbruck.||We encountered two people during our staff. Each was unclear as to their relationship to the facility. The gentleman who got us into the hotel was friendly, but did not seem to know much about the town or area. The woman who took care of breakfast was unfriendly and unhelpful. Of course, she understood that we were quite dissatisfied with our stay. She made no effort to ease our dissatisfaction or to cancel our reservation for our return trip the next week. Everything was impossible as it was booked through a booking agency.||Eventually, the booking agency was able to arrange that cancellation.||Had we not had this string of unpleasant contacts, I would still have rated the hotel poorly. The standards are below average, the service nearly non-existent and I was left with the distinct feeling of distrust based on conflicting signs and...
