Dear Kerstin und Christian, I am the wife you mention in your reaction below. Since you emphasize the importance of 'the truth', I now also feel the need to tell you how we felt: we didn't feel welcome. We arrived exactly 17 minutes late (the time stamp on the picture we took of your beautiful place proves this), so 30 minutes is not 'the truth'. Apart from that: we didn't get lost on purpose, we even had a little accident with our car on the way up and said sorry several times for arriving late. But you kept on telling us we should have called. It's just not a very kind way for a host to welcome their guests. Our 'wild' and 'older' children (age 7-10) did nothing wrong on the playground; they climbed a playhouse and broke a small piece of plastic while doing so. Yes, I offered to pay for it, as I couldn't imagine you would charge 27 euros for the piece (which was already incomplete when we arrived) and I certainly didn't expect you would make us pay for the 'Versandkosten' as well. When guests accidentally break something in a restaurant (like a glass or a plate), would you also let them pay for that? These things sometimes happen, don't they? The dish I ordered was very tasteful indeed, but it didn't sound very nice when you told me you were surprised I ordered it, because "Holländer wollen normalerweise immer nur Pommes, Pommes, Pommes". Guest reviews, like here on Google, are not only meant to tell future guests what they can expect, but are also a chance for hosts to improve their hospitality. You also could have reconsidered whether your communication with us might have been somewhat hostile. Instead, you felt it necessary to portray us as liars. In that case, there must be something wrong with your sense of hospitality in the first place. Too bad, because you have a very nice restaurant on a...
Read moreI had the pleasure of eating at this charming restaurant while I visiting my partner’s family in the area, and I couldn’t be happier with my experience.
I started with a fritters/pancake soup (“Klare Rindssuppe mit Frittaten”), and it was outstanding! A rich, flavorful broth was paired with delicate and perfectly cooked fritter strips. The result was a unique and delicious combination that I had never experienced before and would love to have again.
I had already decided I would be ordering the wienerschnitzel even before I arrived, and it was just as amazing as I was told (by my partner) that it would be! The perfectly breaded and tender veal cutlet was cooked to a golden perfection and was everything I had hoped for. It was accompanied by a delightful fresh potato salad that was nothing like any potato salad I’d had before. It has fresh lettuce and tomatoes, and just the right balance of flavors. (Pictures attached). Pretty big portions, too.
Also, the couple who own and operate Da Graf put a lot of time and work into restoring the building prior to opening the restaurant – I saw some photos in an album that was in there and was blown away! I can tell that this restaurant is a labor of love for this wonderful couple, and their dedication to providing exceptional food truly sets them apart.
I can't recommend Da Graf enough. Five stars all the way for the amazing food, the fantastic service, and the lovely couple who make this restaurant a hidden gem.
And don't forget to try some dessert – I had two ice cream scoops with fresh cream on top and I was in...
