I am slightly torn on this review- the place itself is very comfy. The rooms are large. I like the area- it is quiet and an easy drive to Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau. We used this as our base the night before we went to these castles. The breakfast is also very good. However, there were also a couple of issues: no air conditioning, which is fine, because the air was very cool with the windows open, however- I got many mosquito bites! I don't hold this against the hotel- I just would recommend putting on bug spray before bed. However, we did have an issue with our room rates when we checked out. We had 2 standard rooms and one that was a step up- First- the ONLY Take Cash! No card! Then the lady speaks little English and felt we owed 50E more than our booking.com contract. She said two rooms were charged at a single rate, rather than the 2 person rate, but our paperwork clearly showed 3 rooms, 6 people, 2 per room. And- the room that was charged higher was actually smaller and not as nice as the other 2! When I mentioned this to her, she looked at key, then looked at her book and it showed a different room! So I felt WE were owed a discount. We finally settled for the contract amount, but frankly, it did bother me. Yet- the location, the rooms, free parking, breakfast were all good- and I hate to bash a place for one incident- and an hour later we were happily vacationing again! My advice- Don't let a minor issue ruin your day or your vacation- put it behind you and focus on the good and why you...
Read moreFour of us stayed here as a base for viewing the castles (Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau are 10 minutes away, Linderhof is about 25 minutes away) and the Austrian Alps. There are also a large number of outdoor activities in the vicinity (hiking, biking, etc.) Our room was enormous (even by American standards). It was really 2 rooms separated by a glass wall (with a curtain) and a sliding door. Visually, the rooms could look like 2 separate rooms or one large room. Everything was very clean and comfortable. |The view out the window (which covered the long wall from floor to ceiling) was of the Alps.|The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. The breakfast was plentiful and varied. We ate at the restaurant each day and enjoyed our food. The waiter remembered us and our particular likes and dislikes.|The only two things that others should know (and neither bothered us) were that the staff speaks little english (so bring your phrase book) and that the hotel is adjacent to tracks for a commuter train --- the train does not run late at night and the sound proofing was excellent so, with the windows closed, we hardly...
