Gasthof Andrelwirt — Restaurant in Rauris

Extremely disappointed. We booked and prepaid for 5 nights. At check in, we had to wait around 20 minutes (and I am not exaggerating), before the receptionist/boss/cook was available to receive us. Annoying really. Without greeting us welcome, he told us that for the first 2 nights we had to stay in another hotel, 5 minutes drive. First he blamed me that we booked too late (???), but when I told him we had a confirmed and prepaid booking, he stumbled something like a "server problem". Anyway, the guy had double bookings, and he told us we had no choice, but stay at another hotel. Issue is that we had this "full board" option paid, so we had to drive between both sites to have dinner/drinks etc. Again annoying. Now on the positive side, that other hotel was 10 times better than this Anderwirth place: very welcoming host, a 5 star breakfast, working internet and very clean room. I made other review for that one.

So for our 3 remaining nights at the Anderwirth place: -internet only works (sometimes) at ground floor. Extremely slow, and disconnecting all the time. -again, no welcome at check in: waiter handing the key of the room at a distance behind the bar. Felt like "get your key and f&ۂk off to your room". Really! -no explanation on services of hotel or excursions to make. We had our guest card (giving reductions to national park entry) only at 2nd day, because again the receptionist/boss/cook was not available. Unacceptable!! -cleaning is "so so" : hair in bathroom, "sticky, greasy" furniture and a restaurant floor having the trace of sauce spoiling for at least 3 days. -breakfast standard. Had to be early, else all is gone. -we checked out early morning: discovered that exit door is key locked (what to do in case of fire??). Had to find our way out via back doors/storage area. No exit signs at all. Again, unacceptable! -on the second night dinner, we had to wait 2 hours (!!) before getting served, as the owner accepted a party of around 50, very loud, black leather dressed men, making all his other paying guests wait before getting any attention. -food is good: I think the cook (and so owner and receptionist) should concentrate on that cooking. He should not be in hospitality and have customer contact, as that is definitely a fail. We really didn't feel...

Called up the owner of the restaurant to make a reservation for my family of 5 (incl. 3 kids). He let us know that we could just come by right away and they will set us up with a table. Upon arrival just 10 min after the call they acted as if they didn’t know of anything, they claimed they were full (wir sind “bummvoll”! one waiter repeated in an aggressive tone) and the owner tried to ignore us, hiding behind the bar. It cannot be a misunderstanding, because I am a native Austrian and we speak the same language. |Finally we managed to secure a table by ourselves, but waiting for more than 30 min, no one ever cleaning up the table, and multiple unsuccessful attempts to get the attention of the ignorant waiters to take our order, we just decided to leave this place. Why the hell did they invite us to the restaurant in the first place? What is going on here? What a waste of time. Will certainly not come back to this place, and for sure cannot recommend it based on...
