It didn’t help that we arrived (unwittingly) on Ruhetag (Monday -rest day). We were not given the most hearty of welcomes but informed that the restaurant was closed as it was rest day…we asked for a recommendation and were answered with a dismissive instruction to head for Seefeld where there were lots of places to eat! We were given the key to our second floor room and left to lug our bags up to our room. (There is no lift). It would have been friendly to show us to our room, particularly as the place was very quiet.||My lasting impression of the interior was that of darkness but I guess that is as much the design of the building than absent lighting. The room and en-suite were clean and comfortable although the third bed did squeak rather.||Sadly, there was no WIFI which did not go down well with 2 travelling teens and there was no phone signal either. We heard another family questioning this the next morning at breakfast and they were given a code- presumably for the private, secured house WIFI. Given it was Ruhetag there was no one available to query WIFI with when we returned from our meal in Seefeld at 9pm, let alone anyone to ask for ice for a First Aid problem, certainly no possibility of a drink, hot or otherwise!||Breakfast was good with the traditional buffet of cereals, yoghurt, cheeses, meats and breads. What you were offered besides that laid out was somewhat of a lottery. We were offered coffee…..I had to ask for tea…..which was available using an urn at the buffet table. Another family were offered hot chocolate coffee and tea and some tables were offered a boiled egg!||On checkout, there was the same brusqueness as on arrival – although the couple in front of me were wished a good day and better weather!!! Maybe the owner did not speak much English, but as we understand German anyway and a smile is pretty international I definitely think it was a case of CDB (Could Do Better!)||Stayed here again 5 nights later on our return thro Seefeld . This time we were met with profound apologies but due to Booking.com not sending our reservation until 4pm that day - the owner had already let all the rooms .... This had never happened before ... Hmm as I made the reservations for both nights stay together months ago I was suspicious of this tale! All was OK tho - we had a room in the guest house up the road -1 minutes walk we were told ... One look at the steep mt road , taking into account the heat and all our bags .... 1 min seemed a trifle optimistic and we bundled into the car instead! At least there was plenty of parking at the second guest house! A rather pushy waitress tried to make us a dinner reservation at the Hirschen as we trailed out with our bags like refugees - I may have been quite curt in my reply but let's face it we had already Sussed out a good restaurant in Seefeld on our first night and eating Al fresco with traffic roaring passed within 2m did nothing to excite us! In fact our room at the Fernblick guest house was perfectly adequate - clean ensuite facilities , comfy beds and a shared balcony with a terrific view - much better than at the Hirschen ! The main road was less intrusive too . The owner was very friendly on our arrival and we did not see her again during our stay! Breakfast was taken down at the Hirschen - this time we were offered eggs and the owner did have the grace to look a bit sheepish and agree to a discount - only fair as we had had no internet access at the guest house and not even access to a TV on the most exciting day of the Olympics for GB so far! If in the area again I would skip the middle man and book direct with the Fernblick which also offered breakfast according to its website - and let's face it cold meats cheeses and bread is difficult to mess up really so I am sure it...

Read moreFirst of all, this is also a hotel. And a very nice and cosy one! The rooms are tastefully renovated and comfortable. Unfortunately we had a room on the backside, because the view from the balcony on the front is amazing. The bathroom was also very comfortable with a big shower. One remark, there are not many places to lay your stuff. Some shelves would be helpful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They were willing to arrange charging for my car, but because I charged in Seefeld at the cable car, so I didn't need it. They have a small terrace in front where you can enjoy a drunk in the sun, looking at the beautiful mountains. The restaurant is warm and cosy and the food is good. No need to look for another restaurant nearby. The breakfast was standard and OK. The bread though was very good and comes from the local bakery. Eggs are made fresh to your wishes. When you are here you have to visit the Joch in Seefeld. You can go there by car or train (5km). The view from this mountain is breath taking. Definitely planing to...
