Landgasthof- Restaurant Batzenhäusl — Restaurant in Sankt Gilgen

Really enjoyed our visit here. Very quaint hotel close to St. Gilgen with a 4-star restaurant attached.

Pros: All the staff were very friendly and helpful. All spoke excellent English and were excellent all around. Great rooms. Comfortable beds, FANTASTIC bathrooms with heated floors and fully enclosed showers. Greeted with chocolate cake and the recipe as well as a bottle of water. Beds were set with individual quilts which are awesome.

I personally loved the included breakfast but some people may not. You don't order it, they bring out what they have made for the day and it is a good Austrian breakfast with breads, cold cuts, cheese, a spread or smoked salmon or something, pastries and you can order an egg. I really love Austrian breakfast but if you think of breakfast as bacon and eggs or pancakes you may be disappointed. But definitely 5 stars from me.

We had dinner one night in the restaurant and the food was high end and all delicious. Worth a splurge if you are inclined.

Cons: The pillows and towels are really second class. Pillows were so flat we had to ask for extras just to make them thick enough to use. The towels are also rather small and thin.

Another negative is there was no real lounge to hang out in if the weather outside is unpleasant. There are lots of great places to hang out in nice weather, but nothing inside so we kind of stayed in our room when we really wanted to go downstairs and relax with a drink. If we went downstairs we always kind of felt like we were intruding.

The parking lot is also very small and could be an issue in the more busy times.

Overall rating is definitely 4 Star and we recommend anyone visiting the area...

Cosy Gasthof! The rooms are comfortable and clean. The only downside is that there are no screens on the windows and the mosquitoes are abundant! If you want fresh air, you risk numerous mosquito bites! I would have given this Gasthof a 5 star if I would not have had to battle mosquitoes in the room. However, the restaurant at the Gasthof is amazing! Chef Christof delivers 100% every time! The Maitre'D, Wolfgang, is exceptional. He puts the "P" into the word professional and is charming without being over the top! Breakfasts were superb with a different sweet treat at the table every day. Ich war mit Ehefrau und Tochter für 3 Nächte Gast im Batzenhäusl. Kulinarisch gibt es kaum etwas zu bemängeln, leider entsprach aber das Zimmer (5) nicht den Erwartungen, denn an der Fensterfront des Zimmers befindet sich eine von jedermann nutzbare Terrasse und ein großes Saunafass, das leider auch als Partyraum fungiert. Das Zimmer ist also völlig einsehbar, man musste Tag und Nacht die Vorhänge zuziehen, es ist nicht klimatisiert, wir mussten aber die Fenster trotzdem geschlossen halten um nicht dem Gestank nikotinsüchtiger Gäste ausgesetzt zu sein. Das größte Ärgernis war aber die Nacht auf Samstag, in der der Sohn des Hauses eine feuchtfröhliche Feier im Saunafass gab, bis 23Uhr inkl. Musikbeschallung, bis genau 3Uhr40 mit Reden, Lachen, etc. Am Samstag vormittag wollte ich mit einem Freund den Wolfgangsee umlaufen (28km - ich habe Monate dafür trainiert), ich musste ihm aber wegen völliger Übernachtigkeit (ich hatte genau 3 Stunden 35min aufgezeichneten Schlaf) kurzfristig absagen. Deshalb wollte ich nach dieser Horrornacht abreisen, was mir verwehrt wurde (wir sollten auch die Nacht auf Sonntag voll bezahlen). Ich bekam zwar für diese furchtbare Nacht eine Preisreduktion, ich empfand diese aber eher als lächerlich. Meiner Ansicht nach ist dieses Zimmer 5 aus genannten Gründen nicht vermietbar und schon gar nicht um diesen Preis. Dem Besitzerehepaar würde ich anraten bei schwerwiegenden Problemen nicht die arme Sales Managerin vorzuschicken, sondern selbst tätig zu werden.
