Vogei Hütt'n am Hahnbaum — Restaurant in Sankt Johann im Pongau

Summer dinner visit! We (very non-frequent hikers 🇺🇸) hiked up a strenuous hike that is not marked on Google maps but pretty well marked in real life. The gentleman was very kind and recommended us a pancake-like, funnel cake looking dessert that we loved!

For the not local hikers looking for the trail, we walked up the paved road, Hubstraße, until we hit the Herbert Kranabetter where there is a green dashed trail on Google maps. We followed the green dashed trail west under the ski lifts (red dashed lines) until we found a trailhead of sorts with the Hotel Hahnbaum as a destination. That hotel is right beside this restaurant so hiking to it will get you here! The trail markers note the hike will take around an hour as the start and it took our tired legs 2.5 hours to make it up. Random discovery when looking for a place to have lunch. Wasn’t sure the place would be open but it was. Look - the food is fine, good even, but the view! THE VIEW!!! Go for the view and stay for lunch. The gentleman that served us had a great sense of humor and joked with our kids. The fries were crisp and delicious.
