Wallfahrtsgasthaus St. Georgenberg — Restaurant in Stans

Looks lovely in the photos! Despite enquiring at the tourist information and passing two menus on route we arrived after a long walk in the rain to find that the restaurant could only serve goulash soup and drinks. The 'cook' had no knowledge of the food he would prepare and as one of our children has a serious allergy and we were a long way from any medical help we were unable to eat at the restaurant and had another one hour plus walk to return to civilisation and (late) lunch! Further, the restaurant still encourages smoking in the restaurant and customers have to walk through the smoking part to access the enclosed non-smoking section! Surely this is now against the law in Austria? The restaurant should have posted information on the menu boards in the car park and on route. Clearly they had given no information to the tourist office (or the tourist office had not taken account of information given). The tourist information had stated that the walk would take a half an hour! The route signing stated one hour which was much closer to the mark! This was a disastrous trip and we will not be trying a...

Wir waren am 24.12.2023 dort und am Ende schockiert und verärgert über das Verhalten von dem Kellner. Man geht besinnlich zu einem Wallfahrtsort, am Weihnachtstag und dann wollten wir gerne was essen. Als wir uns auf einen Tisch setzten, dort waren Papierservietten und Besteck, was nicht ungewöhnlich ist in einem Gasthaus… kam dieser besagte, genervte, unfreundliche Kellner und schnauzte uns an, wir sollen da aufstehen, das ist reserviert, seht ihr das nicht, es is aufgedeckt. Ich habe dann geantwortet, ES WAR KEIN RESERVIERTSCHILD am Tisch, er maulte wieder, was meinst du für was ich aufgedeckt habe.. laut durch das ganze Lokal. Alle Gäste haben uns angeschaut, es war Mega peinlich. Aber andere meinten, ihnen ist es auch,so gegangen. Ich war dann so verärgert, dass ich gleich wieder gehen wollte. Wir waren aber durstig nach dem Aufstieg und haben uns dann zu anderen Gästen dazugesetzt und schnell,was getrunken. Die Kellnerin aus Vorarlberg hat mit ihrer positiven, lustigen Art die Situation im ganzen Lokal wieder gut gemacht. Bei dem Tisch, an den wir uns zuerst hinsetzen wollten, hat sich die Geschichte wiederholt bei anderen Gästen. Am Nebentisch war ein Fresszettel schlampig hingelegt auf dem stand reserviert ab 13:30, es war 12:30 und dann setzten sich auch hier Gäste hin, wieder die Diskussion mit dem Kellner, nur die Gäste sind nicht aufgestanden, da es noch eine Stunde Zeit war, er ging schimpfend weg und die Kellnerin bediente die Gäste. Wo ist das wirtschaftliche Denken, wenn man einen Tisch 1 Stunde freilässt … Sein Argument, er muss noch aufdecken, wie erwähnt Papierservietten aufgestellt u Messer und Gabel,… nicht sehr aufwendig. Als wir dann gegangen sind, waren vor dem Haus auch noch Gäste, die sich fürchterlich über diesen Mitarbeiter aufgeregt haben, ein Mann war auf 180. Ich arbeite auch im Tourismus und muss auch oft an Festtagen arbeiten, aber das ist meine Entscheidung. Ich verstehe dass man mal keine Lust,oder private Probleme hat, aber das hat in diesem Gewerbe nichts verloren, die Gäste können nichts dafür, man muss sich überlegen ob man für diesen Job geeignet ist und man diesen Job mag. Dieser Kellner ist definitiv falsch direkt am Gast, keine Nerven, unfreundlich …. Er hat sich selbst den Weihnachtstag zerstört mit seiner Laune und UNS und vielen...

The hike was beautiful and a good meal and beer was just the right motivation to keep going. There are 3 menu items for viener schnitzel huge, for seniors and kids. The main dish is enough for two people, followed by apple strudel. The only problem was the constant bees: the terrace was unusable because they were all over so we sat inside, however bees came in, aroun 4-5 per person in very close proximity and started also eating the food some even getting into ou beer and sauce. I am all for protecting animals and bees but humans also need protection. We could not enjoy our meal. The waiters...
