It was on May 1, 2025, that I visited this restaurant after visiting the Eisriesenwelt (Werfen Ice Cave). My phone was dead, and I felt helpless as it was impossible to return without it. I asked the lady in this restaurant if I could charge my phone. She was so kind that she immediately said yes without a second thought. I didn’t even have my charger and adapter with me. She left the job she was doing to arrange all this for me. Later she I was introduced to her husband, who is the chef of this restaurant. I had some noodles and schnapps. It felt so good to eat it after the long hikes to the ice cave. I am not sure, but it felt like that it is a family-run restaurant. Though I did express my gratitude on my way out of that place but I think it was not enough for whatever they did for me on that day. They were one of the kindest, sweetest, and most heart-warming people I have ever come across during my trip to Austria (especially the lady). After a long day of hiking around the Alps and exploring the ice caves, we were ready for some food. We are still leery to eat at a place where there's no other competition in the area--such as Dr. Oedl Schutzhause, on top of a mountain--but throughout our travels in Europe, this isn't a common European practice. We found the place to be reasonably-priced for the meal we received.
This place gets busy mid-day, say late lunch time (14h), so be prepared. We had to sit inside due to some off-and-on sprinkles. I had the Austrian mac-and-cheese, which really was two meals, and tasted good. My friend had the goulash soup, which was very tasty. We had a beer each (hey, in Germany and Austria, beer is literally cheaper than water) and the bill came out to 45 EUR. The service was friendly...the staff wears traditional Austrian garb while they work to add to the old-world charm this schnitzel house on top of the Alps naturally gives off.

Bad service. The waiter (man) didn’t even look at us when we ordered. I asked what kind of beer the man on another table behind us to the left Got (cause They had several beers) and he just looked in his machine and Said regular beer. When he came with it, it was not the beer we asked about (different colour/different glasses/the other one was more juicy). When we wanted to pay I asked to pay with card (cause They took card) he Said no thats bad for me. Only cash. I tried again and Said that I would like to pay with card and his answer was; If you only get beer you should be able to pay by cash. So only cash. He had a bad attitude towards the other guests aswell and threw their stuff onto their tables and didn’t Seem happy when guests only wanted one cola when They were two people and so on.. maybe he had a bad Day or were stressed, but then he should take a break instead of handling guests.
