Hotel Brechhornhaus — Restaurant in Westendorf

Spent 1 hour 20 minutes to get food and 2 drinks. We ordered 2 different dishes between 5, one course turned up within 10 mins the rest of us waited over 40 minutes. Normally all dishes should be served at the same time.

Waiter kept ignoring us as we tried to order another drink, and finally got served after we had finished our meal! When we asked for the bill it arrived within 30 seconds! Regardless, it was still wrong! We asked him to correct it, he did, we paid it, and then he turned up 5 minutes after we’d paid it, to tell us it was not correct and that he had missed a drink off, which absolutely amazed us as the service was terrible and surely you would let one drink slide if you knew you had underperformed this badly. The drink was less than 1//25th of the bill. In fact the only reason why the waiter queried about the one missing drink was because we did not want to tip for what was, a frankly abismal...

Sadly I cannot say anything about the quality of the food or drink, as we were not served at all. Several people working there said they were not able to take orders and that they would send someone. No one ever came. After half an hour we heard from other guests that they were not taking orders at the moment as they had too many orders. Then one waiter came and told us she would take our order in 2 minutes. 10 minutes later we left. Wir besuchten die Brechhornhaus an einem Herbstnachmittag (15.10.), und der Ausblick von der Hütte war absolut beeindruckend. Die große Terrasse mit vielen Tischgarnituren bietet genügend Platz, um die atemberaubende Berglandschaft zu genießen. In der Nähe der Hütte befindet sich auch ein idyllischer Speichersee, der förmlich dazu einlädt, dort etwas Zeit zu verbringen und die Ruhe der Natur auf sich wirken zu lassen. Allerdings war es während unseres Aufenthalts etwas laut aufgrund einer benachbarten Baustelle, was die Idylle etwas beeinträchtigt hat.

Wir kamen mit dem E-Bike zur Hütte, und ein klarer Pluspunkt war, dass es dort Aufladekabel für gängige Modelle gibt – ideal für lange Touren. Nachdem wir unsere Fahrräder abgestellt hatten, sind wir noch weiter gewandert und kamen gegen 15:45 Uhr zurück.

Leider war die Küche bereits geschlossen, obwohl die Öffnungszeiten bis 17 Uhr angegeben waren, was etwas enttäuschend war. Allerdings bot uns der freundliche Service einen Apfelstrudel an, der sehr lecker und großzügig portioniert war. Für 6,50€ war er preislich in Ordnung, und auch die Getränke haben uns gut gefallen.

Während unseres Besuchs begann das Personal bereits mit dem Abbau der Terrasse, was das Gefühl vermittelte, nicht mehr ganz so willkommen zu sein, besonders da es nicht mehr viele Gäste gab. Das Kassieren hat deshalb etwas länger gedauert.

Insgesamt ist die Brechhornhaus eine tolle Hütte mit fantastischem Ausblick, einem schönen Speichersee in der Nähe und guter Ausstattung für E-Biker, aber die frühe Schließung der Küche und das Gefühl, zum Ende hin nicht mehr willkommen zu sein, trüben das Erlebnis etwas. Trotzdem empfehlenswert für eine Pause...
