I've personally spent my own money twice here, but have been bought the food from here more than that. Yesterday I experienced some very terrible customer service, worse than the last time, and have decided they won't get another dime from me, nor will I eat from them again. Yesterday the female cashier completely ignored me, she could hear me, she just chose not to respond to my kind request to check me out before proceeding to clean the counter, after having waited and witness her clean the counter after she spilled water all over it, including on me. Now I wasn't feeling petty, so I didn't fret, she asked if the water hit me, I said yes, but it's not a big deal, but after her putting napkins down to catch it and clean it, it's back to my turn right? I order chicken souse, the guy on the phone said ready in 5-10, I came 20 minutes later- I wasn't feeling well, and was moving awfully slow. I asked the lady, please ma'am, I'm not feeling very well, can you check me out and then get back to that. She said nothing. I asked her again a little bit after that, she again didn't say anything back. The guy who answered the phone said, check the lady out! This heffa still kept wiping and moving orders and wiping and cleaning. It wasn't that much darn water! So yes, she's a heffa for that! I was seconds away from taking my card and ID back, but that's when she finally swiped it and bagged my stuff. I needed that souse yesterday, otherwise, I would have left. I've been known to keep my money in the face of bad service. Anyway, the chicken eneded up being tough and the Johnny cake was not good, it did have a bit of a fishy taste, like it sat too close to some boiled fish or something. I ate it, but you get it. Edible, just not good. The pepper sauce is delicious too. But do you know how many spots in Nassau serving delicious souse??? PLENTY! GOLD'S got the last dollar they gone get out of me. Oh yeah, bathroom sucks, door don't close, no toilet paper, soap, not clean- 2 occasions,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe drinks are moderately priced, so is the food. This isnāt your average Bahamian restaurant, itās Bahamian food cooked by Haitians so the food has a Haitian twist/flavor. The BBQ ribs are beef ribs not pork, they were ok and the curry conch was ok as well. The coleslaw was chopped and not shredded, it really didnāt have much of a taste. The plantains were way too soft, almost seemed boiled. I didnāt necessarily enjoy lunch here.
Iāve had sheep tongue souse from here on numerous occasions. The souse is amazing; Iād definitely recommend this place for souse but...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am not in love with the place but the food is amazing. It's off the beaten path on Soldier Road, like those little dark places that people go when they don't want to be seenš¤āŗļøš However, the food never disappoints and the service is good. The stew conch is to die for and the souse is always clean and delicious. If you eat in, you get more food. Overall, it's a cool place to grab some good down home food. Btw: the owner makes you feel safe, as he is a no-nonsense person that don't allow vagrants...
