Awake Cafe & Bistro — Restaurant in Dhaka Metropolitan

I used to go there often since it was right next to my apartment block. However, the last time I visited, I asked for the bill while paying. He said 715 BDT, but I misheard it as 750, so I sent him that amount via bKash. Later, he told me I’d overpaid and said I could collect the extra money after I was done eating.

When I went to him and mentioned it, he said he couldn’t give me the money back and that I should purchase something else instead. I didn’t want anything, so I said it’s okay if he can’t return it—it was just a small amount. But then he chose to make an angry face and said, “I told you shatsho ponero!” (715) in Bengali.

I replied, “You actually said seven fifteen or fifty..I might have misheard.” He snapped and said ,”nah! Ami banglay bolechi satso ponero” then pulled out some cash from somewhere, dropped it on the table, and mumbled something I couldn’t even understand. I was just socked!

Anyway, that was my last visit. I’m not...

Update September 2022: Went there again today and got the Chocolate Mousse and Blueberry Cheesecake. The Blueberry Cheesecake tasted fine, but the texture was somewhat off and felt it was not fresh. The Chocolate Mousse was really great. The taste and texture was amazing. Highly recommended.

The atmosphere of the place os going down day by day. Is it's one of the only coffee place in Bashundhara, too many people are going there and making it a mess. Hardly a place you can find peace and quiet in.

Really great coffee place in Bashundhara. Like their iced americano a lot. Also, the Blueberry Cheesecake is amazing.

They have great mojito's as well. They are fresh and have a great punch to them.

Price is a bit too high, could have been much more affordable, but it has a nice environment for you to sit and enjoy your drinks.

2023: They changed their name (went from ‘Coffee Roasters’ to ‘Cafe & Bistro’), the logo, the color of their utensils and also the wall background color. I liked the previous ones. Also the price went higher and taste of the desserts changed. The blueberry cheesecake was my favorite but the last time (this month) I ate it, it felt different. Hazelnut Frappe looked different before, fluffy and creamy, now it looks flat. The service is same though.

2022: One of my most visited places! Pricey like other coffee shops but the environment is so comfortable and cozy. Their Blueberry Cheese Cake is a must try; oh, and also the frappe!

Two suggestions for them: Please serve the sandwich warm. Make the coffee arts a little...
