Casa Bella Italia — Restaurant in Bütgenbach

Not a good experience...

The staff was rude, Germanophobic (I'm a French-speaking Belgian but accompanied by my German family) and pushy. On arrival, we were told that we needed to be gone in 2 hours (unnecessary and immediately unfriendly). Service took 20 minutes to pick up our order. We then ordered 4 meals, including the "combinazione", a pizza, a salad and the Tagliatelle a Gorgonzola. Of the 4 dishes, only the salad was good. The pizza was undercooked, the Tagliatelle was average but you'd need 3 portions to fill you, and the combinazione, which should contain tortellini, cannelonni and ravioli, actually contained 2 of the former, 2 of the last and 1 single cannelonni. The largest thing on the menu was apparently the picture of the owner on the last page. Another big problem : no child-friendly menu options! On the plus side, the food arrived quickly.

In summary, unfriendly, tiny portions, no kid options, and overpriced (for the size of the dishes). Quite a terrible experience and one we will not...

Average food, for which I still would have given 3 stars, but the waiter had displayed quite an unfriendly tone right from the start and a series of mishaps had happened on top of that. For example our daughter asked for Spaghetti with tomato sauce and explicitly without any cheese, but got them with cheese mixed inside. At least they changed the plate quickly and without any discussion. Then at the end the bill displayed four Stella Artois although we had had only one. Accident or nice try? The waiters reaction wasn't too surprised or apologetic, which unfortunately leaves room for both. The pizza was OK, but nothing extraordinary and the chanterelles in the Spaghetti della Casa Bella had a bitter taste. So all in all not an experience we plan to repeat,...

Food was ok. But to the point: I forgot there my little son's jacket and I live in Brussels. I called the restaurant couple of times and asked them to send it to me by post, of course I would have paid the costs. The post office is close to them. They refused, saying they need the approval of their boss, but refused to give his contact to me. Explanation was that they are Italians and work this way. So food ok, but humanity and...
